As I said in this thread, the ship will not take water and sink.As we speak things are happening for the better not in public but internally among the staff of storm2k.Very soon the members will see changes.Storm2k is not falling apart and will not fall as it seems by the comments that haved been posted in this thread.I am also trying to persuade duckie to stay with the staff.

So Ducky, why did you resigned as a staff member on this site? I remember seeing your name here since 2003 and you were even a mod back then!!

I just read all that and about fell off my chair! I also thought that GalvestonDuck was a guy too. I don't know why?

What recourse would you have other than a personal plea to reconsider? It appears that many members here are upset to see her step down.

Duckie will have to make up her own mind but I'm trying to get her to reconsider.

Wow...that's a shock to see. I think maybe Duck is just entirely too stressed and wants to resign for her sanity's sake.

I was a moderator on a message board whose political forum has several hundred to around a thousand posts / day, and having to read that every single day was enough to wear me out after a matter of probably four months. I can understand how being the moderator can quickly become a hassle.

What's happened to the Storm2k family that we were so proud of?? We've gone thru births, deaths, good times and bad times and we have always stuck together. As prayer warriars we have asked God to work miracles and He has. We know each others politics, religion and sexual preference. We have fought and made up and, like a family, have learned to live with all these differences. Now it seems that back stabbing and fighting might just pull us apart. What a shame.

I normally lurk when I notice these threads, but it's time to stop being silent and afraid of consequences. I have to state my opinion. I'm going to go on the record and state my opinion. If I get banned I'll accept the decision.

I respect your opinion but I completely disagree. You were only part of the "family" within this online community if you did not differ from others' opinions. That's not respect. Many members (including myself) are rightfully frustrated. It is time to let this frustration be known. This is the purpose of this thread and I'm extremely proud of this site for allowing this informative discussion meant to take things in the right direction. Sadly, the powers in charge have mostly ignored the problems and even unknowingly (in my opinion) indirectly encouraged the dismal attitude toward some members over the years. GalvestonDuck resigned for many good reasons. I love this site and the wealth of different opinions. I respect others' views and I think diversity of opinions are necessary.

I think the site and its members should be more careful when disagreements of opinion arise. I have been threatened via a potential ban because I simply disagreed with one portion of a person's opinion and I attempted to use facts to back up my position. In addition, I did not insult the member and I respected his/her views. Instead of making the person whose opinion differs from the "norm" miserable, we should communicate more effectively and reduce misunderstandings. It is important to remember this is not a real world. It is the Internet. When anyone can hide behind a screen and type their thoughts, even the slightest unintended negative interpretation by another member causes conflict. We are not talking via face to face contact. We don't truly "know" each other and our true personal character, appearance, opinions, and experiences. This may be the biggest problem that has faced Storm2K and it may be the root of all the problems mentioned in this thread.

For example some members on this board enjoy a heated debate. When another person disagrees with their opinions, these members tend to get serious and post a response that the other member could easily interprete as mean-spirited in tone despite the fact this was not the responder's intention. This inevitably leads to conflict, warnings, and disappointed and dejected members. Everyone loses and tension forms among other members. Over the years, the pressure has built among many members on this site and has led to the current frustrated attitude. Posts can easily be misinterpreted.

The next time conflicting views are presented, members who disagree (on both sides of the aisle) should be more careful when they state their difference in opinion and their disagreement. Posts should be worded in a more inviting manner even during heated debates. I don't want to keep my mouth shut because I'm afraid of expressing my views and getting misinterpreted. People behind the screens on both sides should think before they post. People should look at the other members' posts more carefully and understand why they believe in certain opinions. Before people start firing away at another member's post because they disagree with its intent, they should look at the member's post more carefully. This would solve at least 50 percent of the problems and unhappiness on this site. What a wonderful place and powerful tool Storm2K would be for other people!

This is my opinion. It is not going to be popular but I had to express my views.

Actually we are working to solve these problems. As said before, there are many things that go on behind the scenes and I assure you any decision I have made as a staff member on S2K has been fair and well thought out. I understand your frustration but as you said it's easy to become passionate when debating certain issues. I myself had to find a balance and realize that a perception is just as important as a fact especially when posting on a message Board. Have faith, we are working on these issues and you will see that very soon. Thanks for your honest feedback :)

I agree with about everything Miami said.

One thing that is prevalent all over internet forum are people who are incapable of debate. In the face of scientific evidence, they'll present an argument such as " ."

However, one thing that is unique on S2K is the amount of support those people get. The members inside the clique need not make a genuine argument to get unanimous support from the group. At most boards, this is considered trolling. Here, the people who try to have genuine discussions are the trolls.

So how do you fix this? You have an inviting atmosphere that attracts all sorts of members.

Good point. We're aware of some of the problems regarding this and trying to take steps in the right direction. Like Rainband said, there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that the public never sees. The staff doesn't always agree and has to work things out as well. A lot of members assume things that are not necessarily the case, but I assure you that we're taking the comments in this thread seriously and working to make changes for the better.

Miamiwx, althought I RESPECT your opinion, some of us here do KNOW one another and are personal friends. This should in no way reflect on the actions to discipline or to ban another but to say that after 7 or 8 years we don't "truly know" one another is not true at all. To say that MOST OF US would jump in defense of a friend who is being ambushed - well I would. Wouldn't you?
