Weekend Nor'Easter: could it go subtropical or tropical?

Although I would look more closely at the current synoptics (instead of the models), this is a cold-core system. I don't see any synoptic indicators for warm-core cyclogenesis. As the surface low generates and moves offshore, the mean flow is not conducive for tropical or subtropical development. With the mid-level tropospheric trough enhancing nontropical genesis, this will be a signature coastal storm event.

Even so aren't the water temps off New Jersey in the upper 40's or 50's. I think a cold core system all the way.
