I'm trying to get some sleep, but the wind picked up and the rain is hitting the window so hard here..and I keep checking the creek out back, there's a small light and I can see it roiling past.

Any idea what pressure they thought this would bottom out at, and is the pressure below what was expected?

Regional GEM has it bottoming it out at 968mb between 9-12Z!

http://meteocentre.com/models/gemreg_00 ... _0000.html

Lowest pressures are still on the Jersey coast with the mesonet stations reporting anywhere from 972mb to 974mb, so assuming the lowest pressures are just a bit offshore, then 972mb at the current moment is reasonable estimate.

Here in Boston, the wind has really increased in the past couple of hours. It went from gusty to roaring and we're getting gusts over 50mph in between buildings now. Barnstable recently had a gust to 63mph and Blue Hill had a gust to 61mph. With the low deepening further and the low moving very slowly, I expect the gusts to be even higher in the next few hours.

7.66" in NYC Central Park and still raining. They must be having some serious issues there right now.

The word of the day is "Chaos"

Trees down, power lines down, widespread power outages and flooding. Schools are closed. It's a mess.

Currently, it's 36 with wet snow. Some rain could be mixed in. The pressure is down to 972.2mb. I just had a wind gust to 31mph.

So far we've had almost 5 inches of precip.

ADDITIONALLY...THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE KENDUSKEAG
RIVER/KENDUSKEAG PLAZA AREA IN BANGOR COULD EXPERIENCE FLOODING AS
RAINFALL RUNOFF COMBINES WITH A POSSIBLE TIDAL STORM SURGE LATE
THIS MORNING AND PERHAPS AGAIN LATE TONIGHT.

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.

The low is filling in as the upper level low is now sitting on top of the surface low (vertically stacked). It appears the heaviest rain was confined to a coastal front and the associated enhanced convergence along it along the NJ and NY coasts (compare the rain at JFK (2.7") with LGA (7.18"), which sat on opposite sides of the front).

It was worse up by the Philadelphia metropolitan area where Cat 5, angelwing and I live than at the shore in terms of precipitation. Heck, we had everything but the kitchen sink! The wind was worse down there, but they didn't have the snow (a little bit of a mixture as I was driving into Atlantic City).

I woke up in the middle of the night to hear "pinging" on my windows from the sleet. I woke up at 5:30 to see everything covered in white from the snow we were getting. UNBELIEVABLE! The wind was incredible as well. We had almost 5 inches of rain here - over 7 inches for the month or about 2 months worth of precipitation for April so far.

Someone from Accuweather on KYW Newsradio said that the barometer reading was as low as a Category 2 hurricane. I can't imagine what this would've been like if it was a month earlier.

I haven't been able to get on line at home, finally did here at my job. I didn't bother going to work today in NJ, I heard too many roads were closed, State Rd by me was washed out, Rt 13 was getting hit with neshaminy creek, I decided to stay home. Last I heard we got about 5.50 inches here, thankfully the creek behind me creasted and isn't getting any higher.

It's a mess by me with limbs all over the place and it was raining when I got to work tonight. GOing out on break now to see if we got the snow they were talking about
