for being such a fast storm, it sure did drop a large amount of rain. I recieved about 0.51" of rain in just about 10-15 minutes as it passed through.

I took my family to the Stros game last night and we had a blast! Now listen to this. We walked outside after the game and it was misting a little. We had about a 10 minute walk to my truck and about 2 minutes into the walk, I looked up and saw that the clouds were really low and looking like that wanted to do something. I didn't see any lightning but I've seen these kind of clouds before. I let out an 'oh crap' and then the wind hit us hard and out of nowhere, it started pouring like a son of a gun!! My family and I were caught out in the open and we were completely soaked in about 15 seconds! We started running our arses off and by the time we got to the car, their wasn't a dry spot left on us. We were completely drenched. It was a very fun ride home to Conroe with the heat cranked up! We will be talking about this one for awhile. :D

It looks like we will have highs's in the lower 80's going into the weekend. Bring it!!

Y'all got to see a good game, Johnny! :) I've been stuck in the rain like that and it sucks when it happens, but then you think back and laugh at it.

It's 64° now... I think I was already swimming at this time last year! It sure has been chilly lately.

SG, you remind me that I have spent untold amounts of money heating our pool the past few weekends, only to find the effort wasted with every passing cold front. I will NOT turn that heater on this weekend, I will NOT... (repeating mantra in my head)

Funny that y'all mention the pool....I was thinking the same thing when I was cleaning my 60-degree pool last weekend.

I was swimming at this time last year too! -- Well, at least I know it was in April for sure. Yesterday, on the news they said it was 92F last year at this time.

92F would feel so darn good right about now!

SG, it was a great game. Roy O. pitched great and man, I sure am glad that Astros picked up Carlos Lee. He's impressed the heck out of me so far!

Yep, we are having a "cool" spring. I was freezing my tail off at my boy's Little League game on Monday evening. Last few "springs", I'm usually gulping down the water and baking in the stands, even in the evenings.

Dang. I feel bad now Johnny....

Was at the game last night with my boys and a few friends, behind third base, heckling Carlos for his lack of effort in the field and base running. On a positive note, this is O's Cy Young year. What a pitcher.

You might as well wait until June, Jen. That should be safe enough. lol

I am really liking Carlos Lee as well, Johnny. GO ASTROS!

Same here cctx... everyone at the ballpark here has had to wear jackets and/or wrapped up in blankets. Usually it's quite toasty by this time.

I was awake when the storms blew through here last night, but I didn't realize there was a lot of damage just south of Beaumont, in Nederland, until this afternoon.

Overnight Storms Damage Homes, Businesses

The storms that blew through Southeast Texas Tuesday night caused damage to several homes in the Nederland area. Police report damage to the Babe Ruth baseball fields and the surrounding neighborhood. Central Mall also suffered roof damage and lost a couple of skylights. We have a crew in the area and will have much more on this story on your Hometown News at 5, 6, and 10.

Power Outage Causes Spill at Wastewater Plant

Tuesday`s storms caused some minor problems at the Port Arthur Wastewater Facility. A power failure caused the facility to spill 750,000 gallons. The spill was maintained inside the plant. The plant did apply Chlorine tablets to the ground at the plant`s stormwater runoff outfall. The spill was reported to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

EEEEWWWWW!!!! We do tend to forget about our sewage systems in our daily lives, until they're damaged in some way. Yikes! That's a whole lot of s***!

Can anyone else besides me smell ozone in the air? It's really strong today. Dave can't smell it, but I guess I'm very sensitive to it - I used to notice smelling ozone in the older laserjet printers that had ozone filters.

I just smell a nice cup of french vanilla coffee. :P

I saw another article about the storms that hit here overnight Tuesday, if anyone is interested. It's not like there's a lot to talk about weather-wise. Finally, some beautiful weather ahead for the next several days.

Nederland Cleaning Up From Storm Damage

People in Nederland have spent the day cleaning up after a strong storm hit the area overnight.

Homes along Avenues L, M and N had the most wind damage with fences and carport debris scattered throughout the neighborhood.

At the Babe Ruth Baseball Field, strong winds tore the roof of a concession stand.

The league is run by parents and it's non-profit.

Members of the league say they'll have to replace their concession stand while still paying off their $70,000 debt after Hurricane Rita damage.

"Just about everything was out of pocket," said Hilde Atterberry of the Babe Ruth Baseball League. "The board's pockets can only go so deep. And with Babe Ruth open to all of Jefferson County, there's more available than the 9 board members. There's some deep pockets out there. We're pleading to them to give us some help."

Several doors and windows at Central Mall were also damaged.

Watch Live at 5 and KFDM News at 6 & 10 for more on the story.
