I cannot believe its already 2 years since I created this tribute. It still seems like yesterday.
After trying several different file conversions as well as going back into the Flash Macromedia project and doing house cleaning I finally got it under 100M and 10 minutes. SO finally I am able to make this public thanks to YouTube. The quality is not a clear as I would like since its no longer an uncompressed AVI file. Regardless I am pleased to share this with anyone who would like to view it. After being directly affected by the 2005 season I felt I needed to create some type of tribute as a closure to a record hurricane season. Lets hope we never see another season like 2005 in our lifetimes.

great job, Kat.....I just got back from Sabine from visiting some banks and still today you can tell Rita was there. Blue tarps up, sign / tree damage and many places just closed up shop. Sad indeed to see the effects of a storm almost two years ago.
Those traffic pics bring back some bad memories. 18hrs in the car with wife and 3 cats will do that to you..... Just to add, I bought a generator and a ton of supplies last year not leaving again.

I have Rita evacuation memories I will never forget. My daughter was 1 at the time and overheating on the W side of Houston while we were stuck in traffic. Thankfully there was a gas station open swarmed with vehicles about a quarter a mile up the road. I jumped over the curb on the Fort Bend Co Toll Road, drove across the field, jumped out, took my daughter into the store, and open the freezer to let her cool down. It took 15 minutes for here cool down. It was scary. That was a very stressfull event as we rapidly packing my house in League and expecting nothing to be left on our return. I being a weather fanatic knew the Sunday before we were going to get damn near a direct hit. I told all my co-workers that Tuesday afternoon the chaos would start. I was on target totally BUT I put up 2 storm panels Sunday evening. I learned I should have put all of them up Sunday and on the way out late Tuesday if not 5AM Wednesday. We left at 7PM Wednesday...........by that time it was way to late.
Talk about a wake-up call. With it being 24 years since Alicia made landfall along the Upper TX Coast I did become complacent about a real hurricane threat.
