I was just curious if anyone can tell me why La Nina creates a more favorable enviornment for Hurricanes to form in the Atlantic

Basically, less wind shear in Atlantic TC formation areas is cited as a result of La Nina. Less wind shear = better environment for formation. Shear is a strong inhibiting force on tropical cyclone development. It tears them up, makes developing TCs weaken and run away rather than percolate and expand.

Put a cap on shear and all the other ingredients are there for more TCs to spin up.

My amateur explanation, xperts please correct any errors.

In an El Nino there is warmer water over the East Pacific and enhanced convection and therefore divergence aloft. This divergence aloft enhances shear in the Caribbean/Gulf and west tropical Atlantic mostly.
