The Flash Flood Watch was cancelled earlier, however, Henderson County was experiencing some flooding early this morning. More heavy rain is possible today through Friday as a vigorous upper level disturbance moves across the region. Otherwise, we'll see an unseasonably hot forecast this weekend as temperatures creep up to the 90s on Saturday.

What the heck just happened last night?!?!?! Well, Warm Gulf moist air along with a dry line helped fuel a squall line of thunderstorms, some of which were capable of producing tornadoes. Many areas reported 80-90 MPH winds while Grand Prairie reported 100 MPH winds, so violent, that many TV news anchors out in the storm said that it feels more like a hurricane than a typical severe storm. Tractor trailers and broken trees were sent flying across the region, as a result, thousands upon thousands lost power. You would think we would've been through with all this after a brutal April, but again, it's a VERY active severe weather season. The Mayfest set up was delayed, because the staff wasn't gonna take any chances considering the hail storm 12 years ago that injured dozens of people. The Mayfest will open at 3:30PM CDT today as scheduled. You can read more about this from WFAA.com as well as today's weather closures/delays.

Seems the severe weather event is non-stop this week. This morning, a few severe thunderstorms developed east of Hillsboro, to south of Waxahachie and southwest of Terrell. They quickly dissippated after an hour, though has caused a continuous flood threat. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING continues in effect for Cooke County until 6:45PM CDT and....this just in, the National Weather Service has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for persons in East Central Tarrant County until 7:15PM CDT. Over 10 minues ago, the NWS meteorologists detected a developing severe storm capable of producing 60 MPH winds and nickel-size hail. It is located near Pantego or about near Hurst moving slowly east at 5 MPH. It is expected to hit Euless in less than 10 minutes, so if you're in the path of this storm, seek shelter in a sturdy structure and stay inside away from windows until the storm has passed.
Also, flooding continues to be a threat across North Texas, so a Flash Flood Warning may be needed in the next 30 minutes or so.

We're gonna have a foggy start this morning as visibilities drop to less than a mile in some parts of North Texas. Otherwise, we might see a warm and drying trend throughout the weekend. Then on late Sunday on, we'll see more showers and thunderstorms. Will they be as severe as last time and will they pose any flooding threats? Who cares? As long as the North Texas area lakes are filled up.

Today's gonna be a nice day (despite mostly cloudy weather) with temperatures in the mid 80s, so go out and enjoy it, because from Sunday through Thursday, we have more thunderstorms in the forecast. Some could turn severe with large hail and high winds being the main threats. Although we could REALLY use some of that rain for our shriveling lakes.

Remember when the forecast was supposed to be Mostly Cloudy today? Well, I was wrong, in fact many meteorologists were wrong. Whenever we need the rain, it never shows up--but when we don't need the rain...BOOM! There it is. Many people at the Cinco de Mayo or Mayfest Celebrations were caught off-guard this morning when drizzle was falling in the immediate DFW metroplex. Matter of fact, areas of patchy light rain and drizzle continues throughout the region this afternoon and evening.

We're gonna see yet another stormy week this May as another storm system and dry line makes their way to the North Texas region, and some of those could turn severe. Which is why the NWS and SPC has issued a Tornado Watch for our extreme western areas of North Texas until 10:00PM CDT Tonight.

There's a slight risk of severe thunderstorms for the Northwestern half of North Texas today, including the DFW area. The slight risk will then slowly cover all of North Texas on Tuesday and Wednbesday with large hail and damaging winds being the main threats. Although isolated tornadoes are possible and heavy rain can cause some flooding. Thunderstorm chances will taper off by early Saturday. Already, a severe thunderstorm developed on the Red River areas.
