I woke up this morning and my car had a little layer ash and the smell of smoke is really bad. Can't find anything on any of the local news sites, other than maps with fire icons. Thanks!

Ditto that...the air is filled with smoke all over the Tampa area...the "burning grass" aroma is pretty strong.

Anyone know where the actual fires are???

Looks like it's from those big fires in Georgia and Northern Florida...

Here is a satellite loop that shows the fires...there appears to be two big fires, one in GA and one in FL...

Kinda cool to watch it on Satellite, looks like its all blowing right at you guys in Tampa.
Down here there is just a stong fire smell in the air, not too much haze though.

Well the smoke in Tampa got better for a while but by the time I left work at 2:30 it was starting to get real bad again. Not as bad here at home in Pasco though - and for that I am thankful!

Side note - the schools baseball team was scheduled to play in the regional finals tonight in Sarasota and it was cancelled because of the air quality. The coach in Sarasota said it is really bad down there. Don't know when it will be rescheduled yet.

In the Panhandle:

Bay County fire reignites- http://www.wmbb.com/gulfcoastwest/mbb/n ... -0009.html

Homes damaged in seperate fire in Seagrove Beach- http://www.wmbb.com/gulfcoastwest/mbb/n ... -0008.html

Lots of tanker planes overhead today, and they've pulled fire departments from 40+ miles away to help knock the blazes down

Yeah, it was...I used to live in Los Angeles, and today reminded me of one of those Code Red days in the summertime in LA. I hope this crap clears out soon.
