[font=Georgia]Actor Leslie Nielsen to Discuss Life and Career in Show Business[/font]
What: A time-honored film actor and TV personality will visit Florida International University on May 9th to discuss his life and career in the entertainment business.
Who: Leslie Nielsen was born in Canada where he grew up on a trading post 100 miles from the Arctic Circle. His career kicked off after WWII when he worked as a radio announcer and disc jockey.
During the “Golden Age” of television, Nielsen performed in 45 live dramas in 1950 alone and went on to appear in over 1,500 television programs.
Despite his active career in television, Nielsen is most widely known for his comedy movies, in particular “Airplane!” and “The Naked Gun” trilogy.
Nielsen’s recent films include the role of President Harris in “Scary Movie 3” and “Scary Movie 4.” Nielsen will reprise his role for the third time in the upcoming “Scary Movie 5,” set to debut in 2008.
In 2001, the actor received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
