This has been yet another wild night in North Texas, mainly from the DFW area to the Red River neiborhoods. A tornadic thunderstorm has developed and weakened within 30 minutes in Grayson County, then we had some heavy rain and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, triggering a fire at a Denton real estate firm. More than 7,500 customers are without power and very few residents are displaced due to lightning damage. Also, high water has covered many roads in Northeastern Tarrant and Southwestern Denton Counties, so expect some travel delays around those areas. (See traffic report) More storms are forecasted today and tonight, and some will be severe again, especially on the western 1/3 of North Texas.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until between 10:00PM CDT and Midnight CDT Wednesday for the northern 1/2 of North Texas (not including the DFW area). Also, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 10:00PM CDT for the extreme southwestern portion of N TX, and can eventually expand its way to the rest of the region.

A line of showers and thunderstorms that have once reached severe limits has weakened, but can still pose a threat. That's why the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the Northwestern 1/2 of North Texas including the DFW area until 7:00AM CDT Thursday.

The National Weather Service has enlarged the Flash Flood Watch to include area along and west of a Bonham, Dallas, Meridian, and Lampasas line. The watch still remains in effect until 7:00AM CDT Thursday.

Also, some morning fog may develop, so take a little extra time going to your destination--or for that matter, leave a little early to get to work on time. Also, you may need your umbrella for the rest of the week, because we're not gonna see an end to this raining trend anytime soon. I don't know why I even say that, the rain after all is filling up the area lakes. Of course, some areas in the US need it more as well.

The Flash Flood Watch that was in effect for most of North Texas has been cancelled or is allowed to expire. Our chances of rain, however, will continue through the weekend and the threat of flooding may return. This is all part of a slow moving low pressure system, or as I like to call it the "Low Pressure Pinwheel".. A year ago, Grapevine Lake was closed to boaters to to not enough water. Greapevine Lake remains closed due to TOO MUCH WATER...of course, why bother complaining when we've been without rain for so long? (Two years actually, I just like to overexagerate).

The Low Pressure Pinwheel has left the area and hopefully making its way to the wildfire hot spots across the US. If you're gonna be heading out to the lakes this weekend, keep in mind that the boating ramps and some parks near the lakes are closed off due to flooding waters. But who is complaining here? No one. We have a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms over the weekend, followed by on and off chances of thunderstorms through next week. It's highly unlikely that these storms will be severe or pose a flooding threat though.

Today, we're seeing some widely scattered thunderstorms (or popcorn thunderstorms) develop across North Texas. A Significant Weather Advisory goes in effect for Dallas County, TX.

During the weekend, we've been seeing on and off popcorn storms forming across North Texas. Only a few reached severe limits, but has brought beneficial rains to some of our area lakes. Now if only it will fill up the lakes in the Northeastern lakes of N TX. We'll be seeing that trend continue until late Wednesday Night, then high temperatures are gonna fall to the 70s at least 'til the weekend starts.

Another day, another pop-up storm. A few of those storms in Parker County has briefly reached severe limits, and has weakened, but has brought a threat of flooding. By tomorrow, we'll see a cooldown as high temps drop to the mid to upper 70s as well as the mid 50s for low temps. Then by the beginning of this weekend, we're gonna see another warming trend...storm free. So, if you have any picnic plans or going to area lakes for boating, swimming, etc., it's gonna be a great weekend to do so.

Well, we're not gonna be needing our umbrellas anytime soon...at least not 'til Monday though. Highs will hover into the upper 70s to the 80s with highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s under Partly to Mostly Cloudy skies. Our next chance of thunderstorms will start on Monday, and a few of those may turn severe.

You said it! Although we were close to hitting 90 a few days ago. Still nice weather nonetheless. Our next chance of rain is pushed from Monday to Tuesday, however, the chances of those turning severe are very slim.

Well, the weather seems right for the weekend, but considering the off and on showers and thunderstorms, there's room for doubt. Pack an umbrella in case some showers decide to fall on your picnic unexpectedly. Of course, we have a definite chance of thunderstorms Monday Night into Thursday, however from the SPC convective outlooks, these will not be severe. Sure they may bring a little gust of wind and cloud-to-ground lightning, but that's it.

All this week is gonna be a wet one. We'll see on and off thunderstorms throughout North Texas with some possibly turning severe tomorrow and Wednesday. A threat of flooding is highly unlikely, but if that's the unexpected case, turn around, don't drown. Matter in fact, we're already seeing some isolated showers and thunderstorms along a Gainesville, DFW, to just north of Corsicana line at this hour.

Hopefully, the rain will clear out for the Memorial Day festivities.

This morning is starting out foggy, as visibilities are reduced to 2 1/2 miles at this hour in the DFW area. Otherwise, we'll see a decrease in cloudiness throughout the day and by Tomorrow, the thunderstorm chances return, especially throughout the Memorial Day weekend. Although the meuch needed rain is welcome, we STILL hope it won't dampen our weekend plans.

Yesterday, the NWS said we'll have decreasing clouds, What did we get, Mostly Cloudy skies. Today, the NWS said we'll see decreasing clouds. Will we follow through on that forecast? Probably not because we're gonna see some showers and thunderstorms in the next few days, but we can all hope.

This morning, there's a huge line of rain and thunderstorms stretching from Oklahoma City to somewhere near Lubbock, and it's heading towards the North Texas region, possibly by lunch time, according to the long range radars. Some of those could be severe with large hail and winds up to 60 MPH. It is all part of a cold front that's gonna sweep through the North Texas area today and tomorrow. I other words, I hate to spoil the Memorial Day weekend, but it's gonna be a wet one. DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER!!
