I e-mailed a similar e-mail to Cheif Meteorologist Dave Freeman and got a similar response. I also invited him to S2k.

How so, if you don't mind me asking.....

Before, I've always wanted to see a tornado from a distance, just for the experence.

Now, after tracking friday nights tornado, and seeing what it did as it was happening, my mind has pretty much changed completely.

Thank you snoopj for emailing KSN and dropping our website's name. They did do an EXCELLENT JOB!

I'm from "Jersey" as well and have never experienced/seen a tornado. I wouldn't mind seeing one from AFAR, but I have a feeling that Cat 5 is probably reacting/feeling the same way Hurricane enthusiasts that live along the Gulf feel right about now.

Yea I think the distance I want to see the tornado from has increased by a few miles.

The tracks of the three big tornadoes in Kiowa County friday night. According to the local NWS, the Greensburg tornado grew to 2 miles wide. Wow.

NOTE: A few more minutes and it was heading back to Greensburg.

At least one chaser disagrees with the NWS office's official data. The chaser was on the scene and observed the tornado (which was a multi-vortex twister). He believes the first tornado did not dissipate after striking Greensburg. In fact he believes the tornado increased in size (after hitting the town) and never lifted from the ground. Despite the fact that the cell was cycling, the EF5 tornado apparently stayed on the ground much longer than indicated by the official NWS assessment.

It's possible that the tornado stayed on the ground from Greensburg to Chaflin, Kansas.

I sent an e-mail to KSN re: their coverage this weekend:

Hello there. I am very interested in watching severe weather wherever it is. I was watching KSN.com streaming weather (along with many other similar enthusiats thanks to conversations on blogs and message boards, including http://www.Storm2K.org) and I thought that coverage on Friday and Saturday night was spectacular considering the situation with dozens of strong and violent tornadoes, including the catastrophic Greensburg EF5 (my heart and prayers go out to all the victims!).

It is indeed tragic, but without your expertise and full coverage (including online coverage - I know what it is like when power goes out and the laptop has coverage!), dozens - if not hundreds - more lives could have very well been lost. I also appreciated how calm and professional the coverage was as well, especially when Greensburg was about to get hit.

Hopefully there will not be another Greensburg for a long time, but at least you got them very well prepared! If that had happened where I live, the death toll would have been astronomical. I just pray that the victims get back on their feet and I can come visit a rebuilt Greensburg someday!

(I also included my name and a bit of personal info but left it out here)

Can't they tell by the damage path?

I'd think so. Maybe they overlapped?

Just curious what you guys think.

Where do you think this tornado ranks among the all time big tornadoes (Moore, Xenia, Etc)?

I'd say it's in the Top 15. How many F5 tornadoes have occurred at night? I haven't heard of any before this one.

I'd have it in the top 15 too.
