So, there will be 16 episodes per season .. . so that is a 8 month hiatus between seasons. . . a season will run from February - May . . . a total of 48 more episodes after this season . . .I wonder if that will bring the number episodes to 108??
those darn numbers are everywhere, aren't they??

Episode 108 would've been the perfect end point, but the ABC article says the final number will be 120. Guess that means we really might be in for something special on episode 108.....
I'm glad it's running for 3 more years, though it's weird to think that's only 48 episodes. The writers will finally be able to start giving us some answers

I don't like that they are stretching 2 years worth into 3 years. There's normally about 24 episodes a season, and that isn't enough! Now we're only going to get 16 episodes a season to stretch it into 3 years. I don't like it. This is a cruel thing for ABC to do to LOST fans. I don't watch anything else on ABC and doubt I'll start.

Well let's just give Lost fans one stinking episode, per year. At this rate Walt would be graduating High School (the real actor).....
For a show that started out on such a high note and garnered such diehard fans and attention, to just jack it around like this, is almost unforgiveable.
There doesn't seem to be a standard TV show formula anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more changes, in general, in regards to more shows and how they are programmed next year.

I don't like this. Just do 2 more seasons, 24 episodes and END IT. I wonder if they are going to film 16 episodes at a time or 24 episodes at a time. I bet the actors are not going to be particularly happy about this either.
I want to hear ABC's rationale for this. I know producers refused to renew their contracts, unless the 48 episode limit was put in place. But what is ABC thinking??? I don't think this was the producers' idea.

quoting my own post b/c of this tidbit from http://www.eonline.com:
at the end of the May 23 season finale, we will understand why the show cannot go longer than 48 more episodes.
Rumors going around are that the last 48 episodes will cover two days or 48 hrs. The basis for this rumor is the episode The Other 48 Days that introduced the fusies. One further thought, I noticed how the last 3 seasons are nicely divided up into thirds, a long story arc encompassing 3 seasons, maybe?: 16 episodes for beginning of the end, 16 episodes for the middle and 16 episodes for the end. . . . I think with season finale, we are being set up for the end. The producers did say they start killing off regulars, it would be the start of the end. And I don't get me started on "who going to die rumors. . . You'll be surprised about the names going around.

Well...
From Spoilerfix:
[spoil]04/18 - Exec producer Carlton Cuse offers this exclusive tease about the show's two-hour, sure-to-be-blockbuster season finale on May 22: "Let's just say the end of the season features a showdown between Jack and Locke — a showdown long anticipated and a showdown with an extremely significant outcome for the future of the castaways."
So he must make it to the finale, but there's no mention of him next week so maybe it's misdirection? Another spoiler on the same site says it's Jack and Sawyer that have the showdown, and it also mentions there that a "fan favorite" makes a sacrifice for the other Losties.
There's apparently a death next week as well, and it's someone other than Locke.[/spoil]
ABC has released no pictures for the remaining episodes which seems fishy(they have done it for the other shows).

He healed real fast. Remember what Mikhail said when he came across an injured Naomi and the Losties in D.O.C. He
". . . explains that the island heals in a different way, though concedes that it might "take a day and a half."
Brent, about the
[spoil]death. Kristin never said when the fan favorite will die, did she?. It could be next week. They are playing it up that Charlie will be next. 1- It is his flashback episode 2 - he is a fan favorite -- there are already fan riots planned

yeah, I think so. I've got more pictures. . . .
I don't believe for a minute the person who died last night, died.
Nah, he isn't on the list of possible deaths this season. He is too important to the mythology of the island, I think. BTW, Jack isn't on the list either.
