GALE WARNING FOR NORTH EASTERN AREA
SITUATION
At 181200 UTC Tropical Cyclone Pierre 998 hPa was centred within 50 nautical
miles of 10.0 S 152.5 E moving west at 11 knots.
AREA AFFECTED
Within 70 nautical miles of the centre of Cyclone Pierre.
FORECAST
Clockwise winds 25/35 knots around Pierre. System is expected to gradually
weaken over the next 12 hours.
Forecast positions
At 0000 UTC 19 May: Within 50 nautical miles of 10.2 south 151.3 east
Central pressure 998 hPa.
Winds to 35 knots near centre.
At 1200 UTC 19 May: Within 60 nautical miles of 10.5 south 150.2 east
Central pressure 998 hPa.
Winds to 35 knots near centre.

P.K. wrote:Just had a chance to look at the stats. Atlhough May is after the season ends since 1969-1970 there have been 17 such systems (Including Pierre). Now a June system would be very unusual as that is the only month without a TC back to 1969-1970.
Hasn't the SPAC had June systems? Keli in 1997 and Gina in 2003?

SEVERE WEATHER WARNING
for damaging winds and heavy rainfall.
For people on Cape York Peninsula north of about Lockhart River.
Issued at 10:40 am on Monday 21 May 2007
Synoptic Situation: A tropical low, ex TC Pierre, was located over the
north-west Coral Sea about 400 km east of Thursday Island and was moving
westwards at 15 kph.
The low may produce heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts
about eastern Cape York Peninsula later today and across Cape York Peninsula
north of about Lockhart River overnight and on Tuesday.
The next warning is due to be issued by 5 pm AEST Monday.
Synoptic Situation
A tropical low of 1006 hPa [Ex-Tropical Cyclone Pierre] was located about 170 nm east of Thursday Island and was moving westwards at 8 knots.
