We ended up with 2.64" for yesterday. That on top of the 5" last week with the hail storms now makes my yard officially SOGGY!!!! I sink into my grass now when I walk in the yard.
I hope those storms stay west, but I am not going to hold my breath, especially with the day time heating now available.

This daytime heating concerns me too. It is nice right now being able to see the sun, but with an uncapped atmosphere, convective temps. in the 80s and lots of available moisture, I fear it is only a matter of time before we are poured on again. Add to that the risk of rain continuing through Tuesday, and we may be looking at a serious flood threat...especially early next week.

You are right on target EWG. I was just thinking the same about the heating and sunny skies this morning. I feel a very serious rain event will occur today. Take a look at the current satellite loop. It tells the story well.

check out some of the total rain totals over the last 3 days out west of here...

A few places have now topped 12".
Also, current hourly rainfall totals are impressive too...

Quite a few places are getting 1-2" an hour right now.

I saw the radar and storm looks impressive. I expect more rain, probably up to 6 inches. Some areas have 12 inches of rain in the past 3 days. The heating and sunny skies will fuel the storms.

Current complex is in the dying mode...note surging outflow boundary into Harris County. Rainfall rates are still in the 1-2" per hour range. Of more concern is what is developing over SC TX ahead of strong Mexican vort lobe.
Most creeks and rivers W of I-45 are forecast to rise out of banks if not already including a large rise on the Brazos River.
With grounds soggy from recent heavy rains, additional rainfall over the next 72 hours will only worsen flooding problems
