I think we have Tropical Storm Barry right now, with 40mph winds (based on the RECCO).

hmmm... the aircraft and ship reports say this has winds of gale force near the surface. my big question is tropical or subtropical at 5 pm.

I'm not sure what the NHC will do, but this is most likely Barry. I believe NHC likes to see deep convection directly over the center for at least 24 hours before naming a storm however.

i would say tropical .... becasue the temp and dew point profile is in agreement with the criteria.. about 72 degree temp and dew point in the upper 60's

That seems tropical, and the last Dvorak estimates were tropical.

Yeah ... better temperature profile than I was expecting. Assuming they're happy with those surface wind measurements, I'd say we have TS Barry.

Kind of makes you went to question the t numbers/sab every time a system forms. This has only got 1.0t. In that is why I question things. I think it could be Barry, we will see.
