when and where will Chantal form?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I think the Central Caribbean sometime this month
and go into the Yucatan unless a trough pulls
it into the GOM

And I also think that while it is in the Caribbean
it will peak at hurricane strength.

I'm not forecasting anything super-strong here...just
stating the lower pressures and moist ITCZ as factors

We'll see, but I think Chantal may form from a tropical
low over the Caribbean sometime in the next 2-3 weeks.

A western Atlatnic low like 91L, but this time it will last longer and also threaten Bermuda. In which forcing the nhc hand. around 8-10 days from now....At least the Gfs shows something.

I'll go for one more early-season West Caribbean system ... say June 24.

mid june in the BOC. It will likely head north and become a Mexico or may be a Texas issue. Nothing too strong though.

It may be sooner than anyone else has thought so far if the remnants of Barbara sneak into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. Shear there isn't quite as high compared to the rest of the gulf.
