Explode may be strong, but these storms are developing quickly with copius lightning. Gonna be rough for a few hours unless some of this starts to break apart quickly.

Heavy rainfall/gusty winds/vidid lighting, and pea size hail at my location at this time

That isn't surprising considering the way radar looks in that area and the way things are acting here in Spring Branch to your south. My son and his wife live near Huffmeister and 290 so I figure they are getting a good dose of this too.

The rain has dodged Beaumont so far today/tonight, with plenty of storms around. On my way home about 2 hours ago, the lightning all around was amazing. It wasn't raining, but an awesome lightning show all around. Depending on what happens with the mess off to the west and nw, we could see some thunderstorms overnight. That's fine, just nothing severe, please.

SPC has us under another severe risk today. 30% hail region, 30% wind region and 5% tornado region. Also, it looks like today's storms may happen during peak heating...thus a higher potential at actually being severe. We will need to watch this closely.

It's really been raining just south of me in vermilion parish. 12+" since 10am due to backbuilding storms.

Anyone know why the storm NW of Houston seem to suddenly be weakening? They looked pretty healthy a few hours ago and now they look very weak. Quite odd considering with the Svr. T-storm watch I expected them to continue holding on.

We had a very fast moving destructive storm here at 5:30 this afternoon. Lots of down tree limbs, utility poles and debris all over the roads with winds gusting to 75mph. Several hundred cars heavily damaged by hail. I was at work north of town where we only received heavy rains but south of town where I live reminds me alot of coming home after Rita. :(

The radar estimates 14 inches fell in a small area. That's a lot!

It sure does! Wow.
I can't recall seeing that much in one area with nearly nothing all around it. Usually, there's at least several inches in many areas around the location that sees that much. I think I'll take a screenshot.

Damage under the Bear Creek Dome from last week's storm: Dave saw a huge lightning bolt hit somewhere across the cul-de-sac as he watched from the garage. The flash was so bright he couldn't be certain exactly where it hit. Apparently it was close enough to the house across from us that the charge blew up 4 televisions, 3 stereos, 2 DVD players, miscellaneous small appliances, and actually melted the coax cable for TV service so badly that the whole house had to be rewired. Moral of the story: surge protectors.

Yikes. Sounds like a whole house surge protector was needed there!

We once lost a phone, answering machine, vcr, receiver and our security battery to a lighting strike. Actually, we had 3 battery meltdowns before we left that apt.

Now we have an amazing number of surge protectors and UPSs. We have our entertainment center and computers on UPSs and all other electronics n surge protectors. I even put my coffeepot on a little surge protector!
