Paris Hilton back in jail
Moderator: S2k Moderators
She was also drunk driving, that is a monstrous crime IMHO. And Paris Hilton isn't a little kid (though she gets treated like one), she should face it like any other adult would.belkin603 wrote:Her jail time was actually for driving without a license. How many days in the county jail would you want your son or daughter to spend for such a monstrous crime?

Actually, it was for violating the terms of her probation related to a DUI. The terms of her probation included surrendering her license for a period of time.

I believe it was much more than just driving once without a license. And if it were my kid, I wouldn't like the jail time, but I would let them learn the lesson, because if they didn't get punished somehow then they're not going to learn or respect authority and that could lead to worse crimes like street racing or drinking and driving which could ultimately lead to killing another person or themselves. My husband and I caught our teenage son speeding across a bridge at 100 mph, we grounded him (i'm sure it did no good), and I told him I wish he would have been caught by the cops. I would much rather him get a ticket, or his license taken away or spend the night in jail INSTEAD of having to I.D. him down at the morgue!

Who cares? Clubbing isn't illegal. Millions of young people do it every weekend.
If you're on probation or house arrest, you cannot consume alcohol and clubs often serve alcohol, so that is a no-no.

Some people have some common sense and take a taxi home or crash at friend's house instead attempting to drive home in an intoxicated state after clubbing. Paris Hilton (and some other those Hollywood starlets) don't have an ounce of common sense.

Paris Hilton was released this morning after a leisurely 3 day visit to jail for what was supposed to be a 45 day sentence, and many LA County public officials are not happy about it. The president of the LA Sheriffs union says that this kind of treatment for celebrities is typical under the reign of Sheriff Lee Bacca."There appears to have been preferential treatment. This is not the first time that this has happened. Remember Mel Gibson. On any given day, a thousand female inmates are in custody. Why is one case, out of the blue, treated any different than them?"
And L.A. County Supervisor Don Knabe says:"This incident with Paris Hilton is just the most recent that highlights the problems our criminal justice system has with making sure sentences stick, whether it is in a County jail or under electronic monitoring."
Meanwhile,Al Sharpton had this to say:"...this early release gives all of the appearances of economic and racial favoritism that is constantly cited by poor people and people of color. There are any number of cases of people who handle being incarcerated badly and even have health conditions that are not released. This act smacks of the double standards that many of us raise..."
The only good news is that Nicole Richie is set to face a judge soon about her DUI and maybe the backlash from Paris will cause everyone to go nuts and overreact with Nicole. They’ll all want to look like they’re tough, so they’ll just load Nicole into a little rocket and then shoot her directly into the sun.

Paris' Medical Condition -- Mental, Not Physical
Posted Jun 7th 2007 1:04PM by TMZ Staff

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Paris Hilton's medical condition was purely psychological and that she was in peril of having a nervous breakdown, and that's why she was released early this morning.
Psychiatrist Charles Sophy visited Hilton in jail yesterday and the day before. We're told after Sophy's visit yesterday, word was passed to the Sheriff that Hilton's mental state was fragile and she was at risk.
The reason for releasing her had nothing to do with a rash or other physical issues. It was purely in her head.
Last month, on the eve of a trial in which Hilton was accused of slandering socialite Zeta Graff, Dr. Sophy told the judge that Hilton was "emotionally distraught and traumatized" over her jail sentence, which prevented her from participating in a meaningful defense. That trial was put on hold until August.
UPDATE: Law enforcement sources have just told TMZ the County Jail medical team made the final decision to spring Paris based on Dr. Sophy's psychological evaluation. And we're told, Sheriff Lee Baca gave the final approval.

Where did you hear that? I hope she goes back to jail.
It was a breaking news alert. Here's a story about it, but Regit already posted the pertinent information.
