there is no way that pinellas park reading is accurate... most official readings show upper 80's or low 90's. with that said, it is really hot out there today and the dewpoints are in the mid to upper 70's. As for the gulf water, i can attest it has warmed dramatically since last week... just perfect!

Just got back from Tampa.

Was 99F on my thermometer in the car all the way back to Jacksonville.

Hit 102 near Citra Florida.

NWS Jax has it as 99F @ 5:42PM with heat index of 103-105F

I agree. There is no way there can be a 100-degree reading when nearby reporting stations show upper 80s to lower 90s..unless of course the reading is taken directly in the sun or on top of hot asphalt.

BTW: The same thing happened with my thermometer in TX today when it hit 103-degrees..but I know that is inaccurate because the highest nearby reading is only about 93-94. It must have been the few minutes of sunshine that scewed my reading.

@ 5PM both NAS Jax and Tallahassee reported a temp of 100F.

So basically for this week highs will be in the 90s
near the coast and 100s inland, at least that is what it
looks like from today's data

It looks like 100s are the exception, not the rule. Only a few locations (mostly in north FL) hit 100+ today, and for the most part, I think mid to upper 90s is a safer bet for inland locations tomorrow and following days. I don't think Tampa has to worry about 100s though...the all-time record high for the city is just 99-degrees.

Here is a good look at highs today for selected inland central Florida locations...

Orlando: 95º
Sanford: 96º
Ocala: 97º
Leesburg: 96º
Plant City: 93º
Gainesville: 97º

All the main inland central FL areas stayed below 100º today.
