Looks like Central Florida at least got some weather yesterday. Here, dewpoints are below 70 degrees for yet another day, and this is in the morning. Doesn't seem to be a "wet season" this year. The prevailing, dominant, default setting around here seems to be dry air, with only "events" like Barry and the ULL from a few days ago forcing any rain.

Extremeweatherguy wrote:It looks like 100s are the exception, not the rule. Only a few locations (mostly in north FL) hit 100+ today, and for the most part, I think mid to upper 90s is a safer bet for inland locations tomorrow and following days. I don't think Tampa has to worry about 100s though...the all-time record high for the city is just 99-degrees.

Here is a good look at highs today for selected inland central Florida locations...

Orlando: 95º
Sanford: 96º
Ocala: 97º
Leesburg: 96º
Plant City: 93º
Gainesville: 97º

All the main inland central FL areas stayed below 100º today.

The problem with classifying an area versus an part of the area:
Yesterday, the official temperature @ Jacksonville (measured at Jacksonville International Airport) was 98F

30 miles south (Still in Jacksonville, its a big city land wise), the temperature measured at 102F at NAS Jacksonville. And that is measured at a location near the St Johns River.

It is better to measure individual weather areas versus a region or city.
Where I am at, I can be as much as 15F colder or 10F hotter than the official temp for my region as I live far enough inland to never receive a normal seabreeze cooling effect.

Strange though that Tampa has never hit 100F measured.
Jacksonville has hit 100F plus many times, worse was 1998, we had a run of 100F days.

The official Tampa site is on Tampa Bay (I'm 95% sure it's the airport) Therefore it is colled the the Bay and GOM. It is the same way here. The official St. Pete reading is always 4-6 degrees lower than it is here. It can be 10-15 degrees cooler here than St.Pete in the summer.
