Moving Day Set for June 17th!
I hope everyone planned their downtime activites! The STORM2K site will be down starting early in the morning on SundayJune17 for our move to the new server! It's Father's day so take the time away from the keyboard to wish thank your father!
We expect the outage to last somewhere around 12 hours. For the last week we have been running a parallel site on the new server and have even had a few board members helping us test phpBB3. The tests have gone wonderfully (except when Chad broke things) and everyone that's seen the new site seems excited. Additionally we will be implementing the phpPortal system replacing phpNuke and a new Member's Gallery. I think everyone will be pleased with the changes and for the first time in our history we will have full control of the server. What that really means is that when things happen we have direct control over getting them fixed.
I'd like to also thank x-y-no for jumping in with both feet on the technical side of the server. His contribution has and I'm sure will continue to be outstanding!
As we progress through the move and conversion we'll post updates on http://www.myspace.com/storm2kweather Once we're done we'll post the new IP address since it will take the DNS servers a while to update.

The reason it's going to take 12 hours is because we're moving and converting the existing database. All posts will be on the new board. Moving the database is about a 2 hours process. The conversion will take somewhere around 7 hours after that complete. The last step is some conversion clean-up and testing then we let everyone loose
