Yesterday afternoon has been action packed. A round of thunderstorms developed along Decatur, Denton, and McKinney and quickly intensified to severe limits before sweeping through the Dallas/Fort Worth area around 3:00PM CDT. Less than 5 hours later, another line of thunderstorms developed at the Red River areas and intensified as it moved south to the Metroplex. Afterwards, we got a 24-hour total of .73 inches, bringing this month's rain totals to 2.58 in. Well, from Today on, we'll see partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the lower to mid 90s with heat indecies reaching 98. At least the winds on Wednesday and Thursday will hold the heat index down a little while.

So far, so good! Everyone is enjoying their first rain-free day in over 2 months. Pools are crowded, parks are heavily active, people (including me) getting their exercises done, and...other kids going to summer school. (HA-HA!) Of course, the NWS has added thunderstorms back in the forecast, but it's just a 20%. Then again, any area will be 20% covered by thunderstorms. We'll see how this forecast plays out in a few days, I just hope that it doesn't rain on the Irving Heritage Festival this weekend.

Yesterday might not have been as windy as we thought it would be, but today, we'll be seeing wind gusts as high as 30 MPH. That's why a Wind Advisory has been issued for the Northwestern 2/3rds of North Texas until 4:00PM CDT this afternoon. Those who are going to area lakes should take extra caution and if you have outdoor furniture and trash cans, tie them to your house so you won't lose them to the sudden high gusts. Also to make matters worse, high temps in the mid 90s and high humidity levelswilll result in heat index levels up to 106!
Although a Heat Advisory is not in effect, we need to wear light weight; light colored; loose-fitting clothing, use a sunscreen of at least SPF-15 or higher and drink plenty of fluids (excluding alcoholic and caffeinated beverages).
Otherwise on Friday, we'll see another chance of thunderstorms as a cold front comes into North Texas and stalls around the I-20 corridor. Due to high instability, a few of these storms could turn severe with large hail and damaging winds. And from the weekend on, we'll see Partly Cloudy skies with highs in the lower to mid 90s and lows in the 70s.

The Tornado Watch that was in effect for the extreme Northwestern areas of North Texas has been cancelled. There was no severe storm development in that particular area. Most of the storms are developing however north of the Red River and is moving Eastward, so a big break for us.......for now.
According to the latest short term forecast, some thunderstorms are developing along a dry line on a Wichita Falls to west of Abilene line. Which has prompted the SPC to issue a slight risk of Severe Thunderstorms for all of North Texas. I'll tell you more about this tomorrow.

Picking up wjere I left off last night, we're under a slight risk of severe thunderstorms all day and early this evening. Right now, we got a broken line of thunderstorms along a Gainesville/Sherman to just south of Abilene line (this is associated with a cold front). None of these storms are severe as of yet, but the winds will become gusty at times with the passage of the cool front. Tomorrow through next Thursday, we will be seeing a sunny break with hotter temperatures followed by another slight chance of thunderstorms.

The weekend was rather hectic for some of us. SOme isolated thunderstorms developed in Northwest Dallas to the Northeastern part of North Texas. Most of them briefly turned severe and caused flooding in Greenville. I was about to go to the Irving Heritage Festival with my family, but after hearing the thunder, we decided to stay home. Today and Tomorrow, we'll see Partly Cloudy skies with highs in the low to mid 90s. And from Wednesday on, the rain and thunderstorms return.

Yesterday has been a nice, hot, and muggy day for most of North Texas, and today, we're gonna see the same thing. And from Wednesday to Sunday Night, we'll see a chance of thunderstorms. None of these appear to be severe at this time, but as usual, we'll keep a close eye on the next storm system.

From Today on, we'll see a chance of thunderstorms with the best chances on Friday. No severe weather is expected, but in a couple days, some of the storms could briefly turn severe, especially in the late afternoon and evening hours.

From Today through Saturday, we'll likely see some rain and thunderstorms. Some could possibly be severe with locally heavy rainfall. From Sunday on, the thunderstorms will be more isolated. The NWS and SPC has issued a slight risk of severe thunderstorms across all of North Texas with damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall up to 3 inches as well as some isolated tornadoes, especially along the Red River areas.
Matter in fact, we got a line of showers and thunderstorms along a Bowie, Mineral Wells, and Gatesville line where flooding is possible. These storms continue to drift slowly East.

At this point, we're seeing some scattered showers and thunderstorms developing. Many of those are quickly intensifying to severe limits and has produced some flash flooding. All these storms are moving east to northeast at 20 MPH and like the storms this morning, it's gonna side-swipe the DFW area, but some redevelopment is possible.

Matter in fact, we got an area of showers and thunderstorms in the western areas of North Texas. None of these are severe yet, but the areas that may get affected at 8AM will be along Denton, Fort Worth, Granbury, Stephenville, and Weatherford.
