When will the first Hurricane in Atlantic form?

Important to note is that this poll is for the first hurricane that will be classified in the 2007 season.For example,Chantal,Dean,Erin or Felix may form into tropical storms but do not reach hurricane classification so those dont count

My bold date is that the first hurricane will be classified on August 8th.

This year is not 2005 in any way shape or form. The TCHP is much less this year then 2005. I would say we will have 16 named storms; but feel that we won't get our first cane before early August. Why because anything that forms before that will be under a lot of shear...So less chance for it to develop into a hurricane.

How does that make any sense when you made this topic? It's almost the complete opposite of your first sentence.

It would not suprize me if it did form before that, but it is normal for the first hurricane to form in early August.

I chose the late July period for a most unscientific reason: DH is going out of town on a business trip for a week at the end of July. It would just be my rotten luck that a hurricane would pay us a visit while he's out of town and I have to do it all myself! See--- very unscientific!!
