Become a Backyard Reporter in time for Hurricane season

#1 Postby Vortex » Tue Jun 19, 2007 10:57 am

Given the fact we have many weather enthusiasts and Pro-mets on the board I wanted to share this information with my fellow board members.

As we get further into the Hurricane season I thought this would give many the chance to blog there "backyard" reports on Tropical weather impacts in your local area as well as general weather.

I just was given permission to blog and it's exciting..Here's the link to apply.

Yes..Here is what it looks like when you post...

Morning dawns Sunny and Warm
By Jason Gore, WeatherBug Backyard Jr. Reporter : Fort Lauderdale, FL

Good Morning South Florida

This morning we are greeted with the passing cumulus, a strong June sun and very muggy conditions.

As of 10:30 AM
Temperature: 84.o
Sky condition: Mostly Sunny
Wind: Light and Variable

Forecast:
Things should heat up to the mid-upper 80’s by mid afternoon. There will be a high probability of numerous thunderstorms beginning by mid afternoon. Initially, storms will propagate NW and form along the seabreeze just inland. Thereafter, with a light west to east flow and outflow boundaries these storms are expected to move into the coastal regions by late afternoon.

Main Impacts:
(1)Locally heavy rainfall(up to 2") as a result of the expected slow movement
(2)Frequent lightning
(3)Possible small hail as the atmosphere aloft is colder than normal.

*Looks like a day of Frog stranglers and Gator gushers…
