Looking at latest visible loop. Small area of turning in Bahamas not far east of S Fl coast. Don't have any explanation for it. Perhaps one of you guys could help. Here's the loop showing suspicious area.

looks as if it is being pushed east by the heavy weather moving in and down by the jet.
also visible here tho not as evident on the water vapor loop

will be interesting to see how it looks in the morning

Yeah, I've got it here on the Gulf of Mexico Visible. Looks to be "centered" near or just east of the large island just off SE Fl. Is "Andros" the name of the island? Here's the GOM Visible Loop.

Yeah, Southern? Looked at your WV Loop. Looks like the area is located at about the furthest east extent of the ridge over the Gulf (actually at the beginning of the trough diving down just east of Fl). Perhaps right at the "bottom" of that trough. Upper level winds then proceed to switch from N-S to W-E sharply over the Bahamas. That looks to be where this small spinning area is located.

Re: Bahamas--Some spinning
I don't see any spinning out there at all. I do see a good bit of shear, particularly wiping out some thunderstorms. I also see something making many of the westerly-moving low level clouds that are around the northern tip of the Bahamas dip southward, almost to the extent where they seem to come off the very northern tip of the Bahamas and are aimed south of Florida. That could be your "spinning," but that is just a little wave in the clouds. None of the convection and/or low-level features in the area are moving around a common center, so I see nothing.
EDIT: OK, your reference to the upper wind shift points out what you're looking at. That's just an area of convection where the western part is moving south faster than the eastern part (which appeared to be heading north a few hours ago, though slowed down and is now accelerating southward as well). Just an optical illusion . . .

There is a spin 150 miles east of Nassau.
Look closely at it.

Yes NWF, I'm glad to hear from you. I just got back (minutes ago) from a 4 day beach trip to Pensacola Beach. (I know thats got to be somewhere near your neck of the woods.) We like it over there. This was our first time back since Ivan '04. We had been going to Panama City, but I think we prefer Pensacola. We like the food, and the convenience (you could basically walk to many different restaurants and clubs just off the beach). After a wash out the first day(but then I heard y'all really needed the rain), the weather was ideal for days 2,3, and 4. Looking forward to hearing from you again.
