GHCC satellite image server down

#1 Postby x-y-no » Thu Jun 21, 2007 12:00 pm

Hope this isn't a sign of things to come ...

NOTICE: June 21, 2007 We are experiencing disk problems with our web server. We have temporarily shut down our GOES Satellite Images. We hope to recover our capability soon and apologize for any inconvenience.

This there an example image we can view to get an idea of what exact images aren't up? It can't be all of the GOES Satellite Images.

I have noticed them having problems recently - had hoped they had gotten them fixed. Darn! I wonder how long it will be.

Really? Maybe you're following another path.

I have http://www.ghcc.msfc.nasa.gov/GOES/ as my home page, and clicking on any of the GOES images gets me that message.

these are a little different form the other satellite page, but better than nothing, for sure! Thanks- I forgot about this site. The other one you can click and zoom on the image to a high degree where ever you want.

Yeah, but that site is much lower resolution than GHCC.

The imagery is still available, at times. I use something I built on my site that uses frames to access the NASA images:
http://www.tropicalatlantic.com/satellite/custom/

There were some outages in the imagery yesterday.

Hi, Chris! It's nice to welcome you aboard. Your site features a nice selection of data, links, and information. The GHCC site did not load the data, so it's great to view the high-resolution GOES images again. I can utilize the visible, infra-red, and water vapor imagery.

The satellite data is creative. That's a good alternative as a backup source. You can zoom toward a specific area (via latitude and longitude coordinates). It's an excellent method to view the images while the main site fixes transmission errors. Once again, thanks for the source! This is great!
