We ended up with 2.25" out of that storm with localized street flooding. We are saturated here and I don't like the prospects of more and heavier rains over the next 5 days or so!!!!!

pretty strong gust front came through about 15-20 minutes ago. 40-50mph gusts made it look like it was snowing pine needles. A few small pine twigs/small pine branches also came down with the wind. Strange thing though is that the rain never really got that heavy here. Seems like the heaviest precip. passed to my west.

I have to say that when the storms started blowing into the area around 3 pm today it looked like a tropical storm!!! I thought trees were going to come down, it was crazy!!! Havent seen winds like that in a long long time!!

I don't know how strong the winds were when the gust front came through my area but it was enough to snap a huge oak in half. The top out of the big oak tree took out the powerlines down the road from me and we were out of power till midnight last night.

Ok... So I have been hearing about all this tropical moisture thats supposed to move in from the Gulf and that we need to keep an eye on it because it could be more than just a rain maker.... Also the NWS has bumped up the rain chances to 70% for tomorrow... I dont see anything that might want to flare up in the Gulf or anywhere! So whats the story? Where is the rain?

Re: SE TX / SW LA Discussion - Heavy Rain Threat
Just had a good soaking in Lafayette, I'd estimate about an inch fell in the past 30 minutes. Tomorrow and Tuesday look very wet as more tropical moisture moves into the area.

Yankee - looks like it's starting to fizzle as it nears the BC Dome.
That's been happening all afternoon. Just as the rain neared SW Harris county.... POOF! Only a couple sprinkles here today, but that's a good thing after yesterday's deluge and an 80% chance for tomorrow. It would be nice to have a little thunder to sleep by though.

Looks like these storms are holding and we might have some training.
