Observing Flow in Carribean

#1 Postby Berwick Bay » Sat Jun 30, 2007 9:16 am

Big blow up in Bay of Colombia moderating some this morning. But overall flow looks to take some of this moisture further north toward Nicaragua, Honduras and the NW Carribean Sea. At least thats what this untrained eye sees. In the 95L thread, the upper level high centered in the W Carribean has been mentioned as drifting north somewhat, and that flow may perhaps entice the moisture in the Bay of Colombia to move in a more NW to NNW manner instead of across the isthmus and into the EPAC. Here's a look at the WV Loop of the W Carribean.

Looks better than the last 2 INVESTS, that's for sure. Could be interesting if convection fires up again.

I would not be surprised to see something develop from the Panama Disturbance. I agree, that this system will be there for a while, and should move NW. Conditions will be increasingly better for development during the next week timeframe.

Jeff Masters hinted at shear falling below 5 knots near
caribbean panama...but the moisture and convection
would have to increase and move into the caribbean
as opposed to the EPAC in order to have any chance
of development.
