Shannon,

I am not sure that the advanced degree requirement is in place any longer, at least not at the hurricane specialist level (GS 11-13). Maybe for the senior specialist level (14)

From the 8:05:

A
1014 MB LOW IS OVER THE FLORIDA PENINSULA NEAR LAKE OKEECHOBEE
WITH A SEA BREEZE INDUCED SURFACE TROUGH INLAND OVER THE FLORIDA
PENINSULA TO OVER THE UPPER FLORIDA KEYS.

that's where the NHC says this baby low is located.

Went out and took some pics today of a thunderstorm right before it moved over my house which most probably is being caused by 95L in the vicinity...

I was just trying to get my point across that the people at the NHC are highly specialized in their field and don't use Recon to check out every little blob that circulates in the ATL basin. They have specific reasons on why Recon is scheduled.

No need to take a Recon into this blob. There is no way it is anywhere near being a tropical depression. If it develops (unlikely), it will be long after it passes Florida and as it starts to move into the open Atlantic.

The front itself is more likely to develop into something at this point...95L doesn't look good at all.

moisture is increasing off of the treasure coast of florida

http://radar.weather.gov/ridge/radar.ph ... 1&loop=yes

maybe some broad turning like ARIC alluded to earlier off of brevard associated with this shower/t'storm activity

not saying development will occur but just an fascinating observation to me

One to two MB drop compared to 24 hrs ago, I would call that barely trending down in the short term, and at least 4-5 MB drops in 24 hrs is what I would look for any signs of development.

It may not be tropical cyclone worthy, but man I just saw one the most amazing lightning shows I've ever seen in Fort Meade. Got some awesome footage.
