Tropical Weather Outlook
Issued: June 22nd, 2003
5:00 pm EDT (2100z)
Another wave has come off of Africa, however, environmental conditions are not favorable for development as it moves westward. A small area of low pressure continues to spin in the Central Atlantic but is in conjunction with an ULL and not expected to develop. There are no other significant features in the North Atlantic at this time ... thus tropical storm formation is not expected thru Monday ...
Forecaster: SF
Don't forget to visit Weather Central to stay up to date on the tropics plus USA weather ...

1| A strong tropical wave has just emerged africa with a cyclonic pattern and plenty of convection.Surface observations indicates a good windfield with it and low pressures but development if any will be very slow to occur but the storm2k forecasters will be monitering the wave for signs of development.
1|Elsewhere tropical storm is not expected thru tuesday.

Watch Out in the Caribbean Sea
That system in the Caribbean Sea has me concerned for a couple of reasons. What I see now is a tropical wave SSW of Jamaica interacting with an upper-level low NE of Honduras. The low is moving to the west at 10-15 mph. Now there isn't much convection associated with the wave, but there's a tremendous amount of moisture (see water vapor loop). The GFS has been hinting at something developing in the Gulf for the past few days as the upper low kicks out to the west and disappears and high pressure (aloft) builds over the southern Gulf and NW Caribbean. I think the GFS may have the right idea here. Systems like this need to be watched very closely. They can go from nothing (like today) to near TD strength in 24 hours. This is a time-bomb ready to go off in the NW Caribbean or southern Gulf this coming weekend.
As for its chances, I still give it no more than a 10-15% shot at developing into a storm. But if convection begins to increase NE of Honduras in the next few days then the chances are going to go up considerably.
Another reason I'm concerned about this system is that I'll be flying to Mississippi on Wednesday and not coming back until Sunday night. I can just see this thing ruining my hurricane seminar in Alabama and my vacation in Mississippi!

Yes agree 100% on your anaylisis of that area that we will have to watch it and if it develops more convection definitly it will be a player in the comming days and for sure the storm2k forecast team will monitor it but in base of what is out there tonight there is little to add it to the tropical weather outlook of storm2k but tommorow I will be mentioning it at those outlooks definitly.
