This is FRIGGIN' INSANE I'm tellin' ya's...it's NEVER, EVER been this hot up here in Pinetop. I took this photo inside my unit as I arrived at home at 1445 hours today.....this is NUTZ!!

Yep, a dry heat-kinda of like an oven set to 450 Degrees. Because of the high Solar angle and especially above 4000' in Arizona, that dry heat makes one feel like an entree in a microwave oven set on HIGH. Of course, once the monsoon kicks in (which we are expecting later this week) then the heat ain't so dry anymore.

I'm one of them thar' flatlanders Dennis (at about 1700' asl), and no doubt about it, it's sizzlin' down here. Topped out at 112. I think this makes 13 days above 110 for us here. I saw a reading of 122 posted in western Arizona on another board, so I'm basking in the cool breezes compared to that!

I think conditions are made worse by the heat generated from those electric meters as they spin around ferociously! And next month, when those electric bills arrive, the temperature will shoot up again as those who live here have to "deal with it" with real dollars.

Worst part for you pardner' is that you'll be not only dealing with the heat tomorrow, but some of those flatlanders drinking too much cold beer to cool off!

Can't win for losin'!!

I had 116 for this Fourth of July, but I see a fellow observer in Bullhead City made mention of an "official" 126 there today. I will be anxious to see if that holds up as an official high temperature!

When I was in Vegas back in July 1999, it was 101 degrees at midnight...with a sandstorm...unreal...

I was just wondering if the heat was dry or humid in Death Valley, California? The low is over 100F and the high tomorrow I think is suppose to reach 128F which is close to the nation's all time high record (8F away from worldwide high record).

A morning low of 88 here in Scottsdale this morning as humidity is on the increase from a little low level outflow from mountain thunderstorms yesterday. Humidiites are up too, with 23% here and a dew point about 46 degrees.

Dewpoint in the 60's is DRY? That's what we had at FHU earlier. Something to remember-Arizona Dry heat-kinda of like an oven set to 450 degrees.
Try being outside in AZ heat at 115F plus and you'll feel like an entree in a microwave set to HIGH and if you don't drink any water you'll be dead in hours.

The mountain storms the last few days have translated into some late afternoon downslope winds across our part of town. This morning, though, the breezes were from the west (upslope) and the low overnight hovered around 88-90 degrees as a result.

Heat continues here as the official readings in Phoenix passed the 110-degree mark for the 16th time thus far.

The local APS (our electric company) meter man was making the rounds in the neighborhood yesterday checking power usage at each home. Last I saw, he was being chased away by one fiesty neighbor with a broom!

One feisty neighbor could have their power cut if they don't let the meter man read the meters. IFand it's a big if given the shift in the Upper High position, we can get an evening boomer or outflow boundary we can call the start of the monsoon for Sierra Vista (actually Cochise County). Meteorologically speaking, it started on the 5th as we got the windshift, moisture influx, classical monsoon weather pattern, monsoon thunderstorms and cooler temperatures but officially we can't for 7 more hours because of the idiotic dewpoint criterion which the Faculty at the UofA thinks is the most stupid thing ever thought of by Man (or the NWS).
