...TROPICAL WAVES...

EASTERN ATLANTIC TROPICAL WAVE IS ALONG 27W SOUTH OF 18N MOVING
WEST 15 KT. VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGERY INDICATES THAT THIS IS A
FAIRLY LARGE WAVE WITH TURNING IN THE STRATOCUMULUS FIELD NOTED
BETWEEN 20W AND 40W. SCATTERED MODERATE TO STRONG CONVECTION WAS
NOTED ALONG THE ITCZ FROM 7N TO 9N BETWEEN 27W AND 32W.

2 PM Discussion by TPC of wave.Nothing to open eyebrows other than the large cyclonic turning of the stratocumulus clouds. It continues to be tied to the ITCZ,and Sal is following it to it's north and west.

I guess we have to wait a few more weeks before a wave like that will turn itself into an impressive storm

Most of the convection seems to be out in front of the wave itself.
Nothing much else to watch in the Atl. so I will be watching it to see how long till the convection dies out on this one. :P

Wont be long until they don't fall apart as easily anymore... We'll be talking about SAL and how large waves help each other develop, then we'll be arguing about wobbles and weebles, was it a cat 1 or cat 2 or even a cat 5? so on and so forth.

The convection this morning has diminshed bigtime. Looks like this wave has died as well. If it was September this one could of been a monster as well as some of those other huge waves that came off Africa within the last 2 weeks.

A few models are developing a slight low with a wave coming off africa in a few days, not sure which wave it is,Haven't really looked at a recent Sat of Africa.. But Ukmet shows a slight low,gfs creates a 1008mb low but then drops it after a while, cmc also hints at something. That said the way the models are showing it's likely to once again be a good looking wave for a while and then die as it gets further

That is fairly typical of how things evolve as we move into the prime of the season. There is a massive circulation coming off the coast now and the ITCZ looks like it will continue to send a few more behind it. The models are showing the lower pressures nudging off the African coast. We will start seeing a few more waves with defined centers reflected on the models and even those will continue to stuggle once off the coast..but it's a hint things are getting more condusive and eventually it will be game on..
