I saw that about October too. Amazing.
Raining on and of all day ... pretty light thank goodness.
And a big ewww! to the Blob in the Gulf...

Re: C/SC TX Weather #1 -- More rain, more floods
I need to ask a question. We are leaving in the morning to head towards San Antonio. I've been glued to the weather trying to decide if I was crazy or not to even try to head that way. All of what is there now is heading this way (Bmt area). Can someone tell me what the local weather is saying for Thur,Fri,Sat? It's changed a dozen times on one of the websites that I go to. Now it's saying 50%/40%/50%. I realize that just because it's 50% chance of rain doesn't mean that everyone will see rain. I just don't want to have to tell my boss that I'm flooded in and won't be at work next week. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the fyi. I did know about the "blob" or possible depression in the gulf. However, our meteorologist here think it's going to be more of a rainmaker for the Bmt area. I guess it depends on what it's really going to do...and that's still up in the air, right?

I think its pretty safe to say it will rain tomorrow and into the weekend in San Antonio. Won't be a constant, all-the-time rain, but certainly there will be scattered showers/storms and possibly some heavy rain here and there.
Watch out in SA as the roads tend to flood easy there and I-410 offramps near I-10 are horrible in dry conditions and worse during rain. FYI.

Re: C/SC TX Weather #1 -- More rain, more floods
(gurgle, gurgle, gurgle) .... received about 1.50-2 inches of rain this morning in parts of Austin and Cedar Park. Street flooding and over-the-road low-water crossings fairly common in parts of north and northwest Austin.
I've lived in Austin since 1984 and this is the most bizarre summer weather I have ever seen!

.UPDATE...NEW NAM MODEL THIS MORNING HAS US CONCERNED. MODEL SHOWS
NEAR PERPENDICULAR FLOW (TO THE ESCARPMENT) IN THE LOWER LEVELS BY
LATE TONIGHT WITH SOURCE REGION FROM THE DEEP SOUTHWEST GULF. COMBINED
WITH DYNAMICS ALOFT IN THE ALREADY TROPIC-LIKE ATMOSPHERE, HAVE
RAISED PROBABILITIES TONIGHT THROUGHOUT THE EASTERN HALF OF THE CWA
AND UPPED QPF AMOUNTS SIGNIFICANTLY ALONG THE ESCARPMENT. PERPENDICULAR
FLOW OF 30 TO 40 KTS AT THE 925 MB LEVEL IN THIS KIND OF ENVIRONMENT
LEADS US TO BELIEVE SERIOUS FLOOD PROBLEMS COULD DEVELOP ALONG THE
NORTHEAST SOUTHWEST ESCARPMENT FROM AUSTIN/GEORGETOWN AREA DOWN TO
SAN ANTONIO TONIGHT. UPDATED FORECASTS AND GRIDS OUT SOON.

Re: C/SC TX Weather #1 -- More rain, more floods
Starburst, as it turned out ... we got nothing! The diurnal nature of the rain -- which has been pretty consistent all summer -- held to form. That particular run of the NAM that concerned our local NWS forecasters was incorrect ... and thank goodness for that!
Who knows what's in store today once the heating gets going ... we did receive some heavy rains last evening during rush hour but the cells were moving quick enough that we only experienced minor street flooding.
You stay safe as well!

Well, we decided to go on our San Antonio trip...and I'm so glad that we did. It only sprinkled on us, on the way there. While we were there it only rained once. And on the way home it only rained once. So, we had a great time!! I'm glad that I didn't listen to that little nagging voice saying "don't go, it would be crazy of you"!

Been away for awhile. It's been a crazy "summer" here in Corpus. While the July offcial total at the NWS Office Corpus shows we've had about 20 inches of rain, my readings in my part of town are close to 30. And it's been coming at about 3 to 4 inches at a time. We've maybe had 3 or 4 days rain free the whole month of July.
This place is as green as I have ever seen, especially in July. It's kind of Ireland green. And we are yet to have a high temp close to 100.
Unreal!! I'm ready for a drought.

Bite your tongue. We need all the water we can get. As crazy as it is, I am enjoying the rain and the fact that for once we aren't hearing about parts of Texas going up in flames.
Okay, enough soap boxing.

Of course I don't want a real drought. But a prolonged period of dry weather would be nice when the following are happening.
1) Farmers were looking forward a to bumper crop this year thank to the damp winter and early spring. Pretty much gone if it doesn't stop raining now. They can't get to their crops.
2) Our streets are in terrible shape right now. Sinkholes are starting to form in some areas. I thought that was supposed to be a Florida thing.
3) Mosquitos. They are immune to Deep Woods OFF. Some of the largest boogers I've ever seen.

Re: C/SC TX Weather #1 -- More rain, more floods
I just want it to stop raining long enough so that we don't have to keep mowing our grass while it's wet.
OK - everyone in the neighborhood is currently mowing. It was sunny, long enough to get hot but now it's starting to cloud up again - and it's oppressively hot and humid.

I understand about the mowing. There are people mowing in our neighborhood at 8:30 at night, if not later.
We have had rabbits move into our yard if it grows above an inch. I tell the hubby not to mow, cause they are sooo cute, but he refuses to have the ugly yard.

Corpus Christi and Victoria had a wet July. Probably, the wettest on record.
