I say 4. 3 of them will be hurricanes, 2 of them major.

You are on optimist! Or a pessimist. Two major hurricanes before September, I'm hoping signs say no.

One tropical storm and one hurricane. Optimistically, I "predict" fish storms.

Four, though possibly five.

P.S. It's sad to see that more people have voted in here than have voted for the MOTM. Come on folks . . . you have eleven more hours to get that done!

2004 had 5 storms form betweend 8/1 and 8/15. I dont see that happening again, but we will have to see. If we get to the 15th of August and nothing forms, we will have to adjust our numbers down, i don't see 15-17 storms forming after 8/15.

I am going to say 5 storms. Probably 2 between 8/1-8/15 and then 3 more later on in the month.

Hopefully we get a repeat of July. That would just drive everyone insane if we waited another 31 days without a named storm!

I'll go ahead and say three. Things are starting to heat up in the Tropics. I think we'll get one in the first 10 days of August and two more towards the last 15 and after that the tropics should be open until Dec 31st.

I say 2 named storms. Maybe 3 if the Atlantic ever gets her act together. :cheesy:

I voted for 2, but I can almost guarantee you that one of those will be near the Bahamas between Aug 25-30. How do I know this? Because my wife and I will be on a cruise (without kids!) during that time frame! :D

Don't mean to sound harsh, but are you just plain oblivious to the fact that this thread is very obviously talking about the Atlantic?

For what it's worth, given the patterns so far I'm going with three. Maybe a fourth will form on August 31 just to deny me.
