Who turned the lights off in the basin......
Man we had a few potentials in the Atlantic yesterday with potential but now the Atlantic appears moisture starved. Look like we'll have to wait another week or two before things get going.

For sure, and, that's why I became upset yesterday - it's of no value to worry about things that aren't there...

The only thing is what is the point of monitoring the tropics if you only go on alert when you have a tropical depression.Who is worrying though? This forum is filled many with people who enjoy watching systems/waves whatever they may be. Not because of worrying about what they may do,but for the love of weather.Every wave has it's own story,it's fun to watch and see what models show what,Which wave does what, how the tropics change.. etc

Hey, I will take it here in the New Orleans area. Sure it would be nice to have something to talk about in the way of a system but I am quite happy having a quiet season. Just like the rest of you guys I don't expect it to be this way the rest of the year but you never really know. I think we might have a storm or two coming from the South America/Central America area that moves North sometime in the next three weeks.

I've learned my lesson.Wake me when a TD actually forms, then I'll be interested . If we haven't gotten the next TD by mid August then its time to close the book on this season.

Well,we will at least know its not going to be a very active season. To have has many named storms as all the "professionals" were predicting,we should be seeing an early start to it.So far, conditions seem to be stuck on very little formation. It will remind me of 2001

Maybe you should've listened to The Tropical Roundtable last night. Remember...we are ahead of 2004 right now.

With two possible systems developing (according to latest Tropical Outlook posted in other threads)...the one near Bermuda...and the one east of the islands..looks like things are about to get going....right on schedule as we approach August!

Yep, not sure anyone had ever really turned the lights off...maybe it's more that the party is just getting going....
When the 5:30 & 11:30 Tropical Outlooks from the NHC start to be a few paragraphs in length...without even reading them...you know things are getting going!

Blown_away you are correct except I meant to turn on the light switch instead I turned on the tropics switch.
