Low Developing Off Wilmington?

#1 Postby 'CaneFreak » Mon Jul 30, 2007 11:00 pm

Aric Dunn and I just got to talking about some of the surface observations coming out of Wilmington this evening and it appears that we now have a low pressure forming off of the Southeast cost of North Carolina just east of the Wilmington area. It appears that the GFS is giving this system the chance to develop as well over the next 24-48 hours. Comments?

The CMC predicted a low to form so a few days ago, so I think it's plausible.

I like this site because it lists pressures and the lines. (still nice to look at a line in addition to the graphics at other sites)

7/31 0Z run:

Just GFS 7/31 0Z run:

Just out within last couple minutes.

It should be associated with that front passing through...I remember just a few days ago the NWS Newport AFD talking about a low forming and running up the coast...then the front stalls in the coastal waters, drifts north before finally washing out.

GFS really cranks it up as it too lifts out following TD3. The sub-tropics really want to develop one after the other. What ever happened to goold ole Cape Verde/deep tropics development? At least it won't be like Alex in 2004- Outer Banks got toasted on that one! I guess we could see quite an active week ahead....

To unfavorable over the tropical Atlatnic. But I would watch 99L to become at least a weak system. But this is also interesting.

It is just a front that came off the coast. I don't think any thing will happen there.

It may not turn up into anything, but I think it looks so impressive in the satellite images that the NHC will mention it in the TWO @ 11:30 AM.

Could we get a third crazy east coast spin-up storm. That would be different.
