I completely understand what your saying. I've been up since before Chantal was named. But I cannot make myself go to sleep.

Cyclone, like your posts too, keep on posting, but you know that lack of sleep is not good. It'll catch up with you, really it will. I'm in Central time, and I expect to be turning in shortly. Probably be up pretty early though to check on things. Southerngale, this may sound funny, but I don't often see the quote sign. Occasionaly it appears (on top of a post I think), but most of the time its not there. I also have a really difficult time posting a message. On this computer I have to log in 3 or 4 times sometimes before I can get in. Probably need a new computer.

I been wondering this since Katrina. Was it spun off of TD10 or was it TD12 which was its designation before it became Katrina.

I been trying to find that answer for 2 years TD10 or TD12 which formed Katrina.

Re: Invest 99L, East of Windwards - Thread #4
since we are just waitng on 99L, here is the Synoptic on Katrina from TPC..
Synoptic History
The complex genesis of Katrina involved the interaction of a tropical wave, the middle tropospheric remnants of Tropical Depression Ten, and an upper tropospheric trough. This trough, located over the western Atlantic and the Bahamas, produced strong westerly shear across Tropical Depression Ten, causing it to degenerate on 14 August approximately 825 n mi east of Barbados. The low-level circulation gradually weakened while continuing westward, and it eventually dissipated on 21 August in the vicinity of Cuba. Meanwhile, a middle tropospheric circulation originating from Tropical Depression Ten lagged behind and passed north of the Leeward Islands on 18-19 August. A tropical wave, which departed the west coast of Africa on 11 August, moved through the Leeward Islands and merged with the middle tropospheric remnants of Tropical Depression Ten on 19 August and produced a large area of showers and thunderstorms north of Puerto Rico. This activity continued to move slowly northwestward, passing north of Hispaniola and then consolidating just east of the Turks and Caicos during the afternoon of 22 August. Dvorak satellite classifications from the Tropical Analysis and Forecast Branch (TAFB) of the Tropical Prediction Center (TPC) began at 1800 UTC that day. The upper tropospheric trough weakened as it moved westward toward Florida, and the shear relaxed enough to allow the system to develop into a tropical depression by 1800 UTC 23 August over the southeastern Bahamas about 175 n mi southeast of Nassau. The depression was designated Tropical Depression Twelve rather than “Ten” because a separate tropical wave appeared to be partially responsible for the cyclogenesis, and, more importantly, the low-level circulation of Tropical Depression Ten was clearly not involved.
what was interesting, I just received from a close friend the e-mail I sent to all concerned in SE TX from our home in Key West at the time, warning everyone that this was a very large and unusaul Hurricane(Katrina). As moved inland in S FL and tracked SW to 40 miles N of Key West, which was not at all prepared and received around 20 inches of rain in 6 hours. The e-mail was sent out 26 hours later after power had been restored. What memories

I'm gonna go to bed now, but I wouldn't be surprised if it really starts developing quickly overnight. Convection over the last half hour is just beginning to develop just to the east of the circulation center too now at 11.9, 53.2W. I expect this will blossom in the next three hours, so that by morning there may even be a relatively stable CDO that could start taking it to tropical storm strength over the course of the next 18-24 hours. We'll see. I've been wrong many times before, and I realize I'm going against what seems like the S2K general consensus of little if any development, but whatever.

I enjoy watching Mark Sudduth and his boys with his Hurricanetrack Live. You know those guys were bored out of their minds last year. I think it wont be too much longer though before they start packing up for some road trips. I believe 2007 will not be a repeat of 2006. He should have much more excitement this year.
