How Many Here Want to Learn All They Can About Cyclones?
How many here want to learn all they can about cyclones, systems, the tropics weather wise, etc.? Or do you just come here to find out what is out there? Do you feel like you are able to learn alot?
I know I do for both.

I'm no meteorology student, but I have been fascinated by the science of hurricanes since Hurricane Andrew. I've learned a lot over the years and continue to learn. You see me once in a while not post often in tropical discussion threads; because I don't have much to say without either re-hashing a previous statement or because I'm just "listening in" and trying to learn.

I love this site, and try to take in as much as I can. Best weather forum on the web.

I'm here because I'm fascinated by hurricanes, and keenly interested in the tracking of these storms. I'm learning something all the time, I read more than post, simply because my knowledge of meteorology is limited and well, Abe Lincoln is credited with a famous quote that would apply here. I'd post it, but I'd bet more than a few here know the one I'm talking about...

I have been studying tropical systems since I was in 10th grade, (did a science fair project on them and won an award) so I’m here to learn, get inside information and just have fun.

If you're really eager to learn about the basic science of hurricanes, I suggest reading a review article by Kerry Emanuel:
ftp://texmex.mit.edu/pub/emanuel/PAPERS/annrevfinal.pdf
Even though it's a review article (vs. a full blown journal article), it does help if you are comfortable with math/physics because frankly it's unavoidable. Otherwise, it's qualitative enough that you should still be able to get quite a bit out of it.

Re: How Many Here Want to Learn All They Can About Cyclones?
I come here to learn, and I HAVE learned a LOT by 'lurking' for nearly three years now. Don't yet feel comfortable enough to contribute. But I have learned enough to appreciate what I read here ... and to watch the tropics from a more informed viewpoint.
As a coastal resident, I also look to S2K for a heads up on what is going on / may be going on in the tropics.
So, from a long-time, but frequent, lurker, THANK YOU to all those who contribute well thought-out posts, especially those that are backed up with those great explanations some of you give!
