Quick question about lightning
My friend was struck by lightning in Texas on that bad storm of June 15th, or Father's Day. Since then he can't feel ANY pain. He can see the cuts or gashes, but cannot feel them at all. What may have caused this?

I am by no means an expert, but my geuss would be when the lightning hit him everything electrical in his body has been shortcircuted, including nerves. Or simply the nerves have just been fried. It might be permant , or it might just take time for the nerves to heal themselves. From everything I've read on lightning strike victims (the survivors) almost every person has different side effects from being hit. Some have no ill effects at all, others have a lifetime of health problems and severe pain. Hopefully someone else will pop in who's more expert at this and give you somemore incite. I hope your friend has a full recovery. ~K

Wow... now that's really weird... just goes to show what lightning can do if you're not taking the necessary precautions! :o

Josh, I would have to recommend your friend see a doctor who specializes in lightning strikes specifically or a qualified doctor who has dealt with lightning strike injuries ...
I'm not a doctor, but as another poster eluded to, it sounds like your friend has nerve damage from the strike ...
