Invest 99L Thread #6

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I have been trying really hard to put up professional analyses here, and it takes a lot of my time. I still converse with my Penn State alumnae and teachers, and I'm lucky to have those professional meteorologists to vet my papers. I always try to back up my assertions with solid science. I enjoy the give and take here, and I like the fact that we can joke around a little. Who among us here hasn't taken heat for a bad forecast? Meteorologists obvioulsy need a thick skin.

Convection has really been on the decrease the past couple of hours with 99L...I see no significant development in the near term atleast.

AFM, Ortt, MW, 57 and all other pro mets that I have not mentioned, you have my utmost respect. I appreciate you guys very much. For those who knock them, you need to learn respect. I am a Veteran Registered Nurse, I always respect the MD over me, even if we do debate at times. Sometimes I am right, and sometimes I am wrong, but all debate is done in respect.
Further, there are other posters on here that I respect their opinions. Debate is okay as long is it is done in a respectful manner.

Now back to the topic....99L. I still think this system goes up and down in looking good then not so good. However, I feel it is the first wave to make it this far and have 6 threads of discussion on it. I feel it points to things to come for this season. This is the beginning of what can be a season we will not forget. Remember, it only takes one monster US landfalling cane to make it a memorable season.

Just my 2 cents. Image

LOL! But stop licking your chops for a moment. :) Actually I did expect this, which you can verify by reading my posts from today, because of the finishing off of the diurnal convection minimum. But it looks particularly raggedy at the moment. I will go digging into the data now and try to find out what, if anything new, is in the offing. We particularly need to see the 00Z runs from the models.
Cheers.

To be better safe than sorry. Err on the side of caution. BUt it was obvious it was not yet a tropical storm

I agree with AFM, it was to be safe than sorry, I guarantee you that the NHC this morning knew that there was no LLC, as it was very evident from Curacao's radar loop & surface observation in the ABC islands. To be on the safe side they probably sent the plane as convection was still firing and showed organization at mid levels, sometimes the reconn has gotten lucky and a LLC has formed right when they get to the disturbance.

yeah, this looks pathetic. It might very well be the end of the road.. But then again, I also thought the same last night and the night before only to wake up to a complete revival. I guess we will have to wait and see if the same thing happens tonight.

That does look pathetic, but for some reason, I refuse to give up on this thing. I think by Sunday, we should have our TC.
