Nice Looking Wave Exiting Africa Today
This looks like a TD already. http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/DATA/RT/EATL/IR4/20.jpg If it does survive and develop it has fish written all over it.

Re: Nice Looking Wave Exiting Africa Today
Speaking of SAL look how its lifted north over the past couple of weeks and from the looks of things it should not be a significant problem during the next couple of months as we head into peak activity.

Saharan Air Layer... dust from the desert. Can weaken even a hurricane quite a bit(see Ivan 2004) and will kill a weaker storm.

Saharan Air Layer, or dust from the Sahara Desert that rides in the upper atmosphere with the trade winds and prevents the formation of thunderstorms.

Unless we get a home grown storm the CONUS is 2+ weeks from any threat, IMO. 99L could threaten Texas, but I doubt it.

Yeah....If this was September and the SAL was clear of its path this could possibly have a Hugo or Floyd written all over it.
I did notice behind this one there is another wave that is very healthy looking and a little farther north compared to where most have been coming off so far this year. I wonder if this will become a pattern with these waves coming off Africa at this Latitude for the next couple of months.???

Once ol' SALLY clears up more, look out
We will most likely see more than one named system in the Atl. at once
