Don't mean to be a little off-topic, but many of us are still talking about the explosions that happened near Downtown Dallas. The good news is that the weather cooperated with firefighters as they contained the fire.

Anyways, from today on, we'll see isolated to scattered thunderstorms, with the best chances on Friday and Saturday. There is no potential flood threat for this region, but if anything like that should happen, the NWS will be issuing flood alerts.

Last night, we had some isolated thunderstorms pass through the DFW area. Many area got more than a tenth of an inch of rain, and this trend will continue through August.

Speaking of next month, according to the weather models on ABC affiliate WFAA-TV, we're gonna have more of the same as we did for 2 months now.

Well, this is the day we're supposed to dry out...WRONG!!! An upper level disturbance along with a cool front continue to hang around the North Texas region, bringing storm after storm. All the rain chances will slowly dissipate throughout the week and then, we'll have much hotter temperatures (That's more like it, why hasn't that happened earlier this summer?).

At High Noon, an area of showers and thunderstorms passed through the North Texas region, mostly on and north of DFW, Weatherford, Terrell line. However, most of the activity developed along and north of a Decatur, Denton, Greenville line on Monday Evening and was moving East-Northeast. There was a small complex of thunderstorms in Arlington, that was poised to move Northeast into Irving and DFW, but fell apart quickly. Today through Thursday will be no different.

Earlier, we had an area of heavy rain and thunderstorms in Tarrant County, but all that has moved Southeast away from the immediate DFW area. Some residents in western Dallas County were seeing a nice lightning show first thing this morning. We are still expecting scattered thunderstorms throughout the day, with rain chances withering by the weekend. Then, we'll see some summer-like weather beginning Sunday.

Guess you could say, summer returned...2 months too late.

Those in the immediate DFW area, put away your umbrellas, summer weather is coming to North Texas (a little late though, but that's alright. School doesn't start until the 27th of this month). Highs will rise to the upper 90s to near 100 on Tuesday with lows near 80 under Mostly Sunny to Partly Cloudy skies.

If you are gonna be bringing your umbrella, you can use it to shield yourself from the hot sun rays, otherwise, bring out your swimming stuff, sunblock, sunglasses, drinks (non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated) and enjoy the sunny weather! :layout:

Summer heat is making its return, albeit 2 months too late, but many of us Texans have until the 27th to soak up the summer weather before school starts back up. Today's also the day for "American Idol" Auditions at Texas Stadium in Irving; so hopefully, some late-comers brought plenty of sunscreen and water.

A Heat Advisory remains in effect for Dallas and Tarrant Counties until 6:00PM CDT Today. Also, some tropical activity is brewing in the Gulf of Mexico that could shove the High Pressure ridge away and bring some relief to the North Texas area. Not only rain, but cooler temperatures.

All Heat Advisories for the North Texas areas have been allowed to expire. High temperatures as well as heat index values fell below the excessive heat criteria, however, caution still needs to be taken throughout the day. In the next 24 hours, remnence of now Tropical Depression Erin will bring some rain to North Texas as well as cooler temperatures.

Severeal scattered thunderstorms flinged into the North Texas region last night, bringing torrential rainfall, and deadly cloud-to-ground lightning. All this was associated with what was Tropical Depression Erin, but more is yet to come today through this weekend. Also, we might have Hurricane Dean on its way to the Gulf of Mexico by next week as well.
