thers no dry air! no SAL! this is a first...itll probably fizzle durning today and maybe tomorrow, but I think the southern portion may be the part to watch, as the dominant LLC is too far north, and I think it is this wave that the GFS and CMC develop a closed (though weak) low, and its around 10-15N, which is already further south than the LLC is already

Trade winds, I dont think are as strong in the EATL as the Carib, no SAL, and shear decreases the further you go west...conditions arent too far off

Conditions should be just about perfect for development in 7 -10 days

POOF!

Another one bites the dust.

Anybody care to join me and monitor the EPAC instead - Atlantic is lifeless right now?

Nah. There's nothing much there either, and the EPAC hasn't been doing well this season. Just wake me up when something develops. zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Actually, I'm going to keep watching this one just because it looks so good, despite losing convection. It's pretty far north though, so I don't know.

lol,one can't "poof" a system so easily.. If you remeber 99l was convectionless for a while too,it still had potential.Waves can have no convection for a while and then suddenly gain convection and structure later on in it's Atlantic-Trekking life.It still has a chance,it has pretty decent conditions coming up too.A few models move a closed low across (This wave it seems). But just saying one can't completely write off anything until it's all gone or it crosses Central America

Can anybody give me a good place to get a satellite image of all the African waves about to move off into the Atlantic?

wow...take a look at the southern half of that wave...lots of convection and outflow, although probably enhanced by the ITCZ...however, looking at the images above, it looks like there maybe a swirl at about 12N 18W...i could be wrong but thats what it looks like to me, and i have a feeling we should watch the southern half of the wave for development
