Good Afternoon or Evening Everyone!

Welcome back, Jeremy... nice to have you back on Storm2K. :) I am glad you enjoyed you trip. I can understand not liking rain on vacation; but this was "Florida Rain." -- A good thing for those of us that live here (more so for those of us who are weather enthusiasts that live here) after months of very dry weather. :D

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your former classmate, Garrett. Did you know how well?

I like hearing the EAS (the Emergency Alert System; it used to be the "EBS" [Emergency Broadcast System]) tone in general, but I can understand it being scary when the reason for the alert affects you personally.

Have a great rest of you Sunday and wonderful week. :)

Tom... I knew DJ on an aquaintance level. He was part of the "out" crowd and we only spoke in the hall, in the lunch line, etc. One of the few people who talked to him outside his social class. I was one of those people that could be popular yet could still talk and be respected by the not-so-popular. The only real memory I have of him was him patting me on the back and congratulating me after winning Student of the Year my senior year. Funny how you don't remember those things until it is too late.

I heard from Darla today who said that he had been trying to turn his life around recently. The other person that hit him was drunk. :(

Glad you had a great trip Jeremy, but we are glad to have you back. :)

It was a gorgeous day in Menasha this afternoon.... 84* at Outagamie County Airport (Grand Chute) just west of the Fox River Mall. I'm back in Milwaukee though... currently downtown readings are....81* at General Mitchell International Airport in St. Francis (suburb of Milwaukee)

Anyways...Garrett...no Walgreens??? Goodness, in the Fox Cities area there is at least 4. We have 2 Super Wally Worlds (and one in the building process), 2 Menards, 2 Home Depots, 3 Kohls Department Stores, 2 Big Lots (bargain stores), about 7 Dollar Stores/Trees, 2 Target Stores, 4 Shopko stores, plus the Fox River Mall, which is the largest mall north of Milwaukee; along with Scheels Sporting Goods Store...THE largest sporting goods store in the state of Wisconsin. http://www.foxrivermall.com/Index2.asp What do you need...I'm sure I can find it! (PS...no Eckerd Stores, IKEA stores, or CVS) We have the mall around, but its mainly a tourist trap...the locals know to stay away!!! Get out towards the mall about once a month...that's about it. There's no need to go there...everything is in Darboy, which is much, much closer to our house and we don't have to deal with Mall Traffic...just the traffic on Calumet St!

Dennis, the local news stations are covering the AZ wildfires on a hourly basis! I'm serious...print and TV, we can see the pictures of the flames destroying homes along the beaten path. I sure hope you don't have to evacuate again.

Garrett - I'm sorry to hear about your friend as well. :(

Jeremy - welcome back! I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation!

Gulfbreezer - I hear you! Actually, today wasn't that bad. We had alot of clouds but there were a few breaks of sunshine. Of course, there were a few raindrops as well!

It's amazing how you guys down in Florida were saying that you hadn't had any rain and then BOOM! Now, if we could just get some over to the SW... Our local news has been reporting on the fires too on a daily basis.

Have a great evening everyone!

Aha! I am back, and have just read most of the last three days of posts here. Of most interest and concern...the flooding in Florida, and the fires down the road between Oro Valley and Sierra Vista. I have not read all the posts, but I know also that there is a fire near the Steve's place in Sierra Vista too. So that leaves DJ and Steve at some risk tonight.

Could not see the smoke in Tucson from our turnoff at I8 and SR85 in Gila Bend today. A year ago...we could see the fire plume up near Show Low from the west side of Phoenix...at least 100 miles away.

We will all be watching the fires in the hours and days ahead.

Rather than catch up on all the other chatter...I'll try to roll into the mix gently during the week.

An Emma update...indeed she is walking! And I have the photo for proof. Drop me a note if you'd like an updated photo or two.

Meanwhile...this week marks the end of the work month and fiscal year...so some long hours could be in the works!

I'll stop in when I can.

Hello ya'll! Still chattin' at ya'll from Florida. I'm going to need a vacation after this trip! I'm teaching Vacation Bible School this week, at the church I grew up in. I have a class of 3rd graders, and ask that you all join me in prayer for these kids, that we can lead them to salvation. We spent 12 1/2 hours at church yesterday, preparing our classroom, and prayer walking through all the rooms, plus every day we have been preparing the crafts for the kids. I had such wonderful experiences as a child in VBS, and hope to be able to help in createing the same experiences for these kids.

I helped mom host a pot-luck Bible study for her Sunday School class Friday night....It rained hard all day, and her ceiling leaked all day, in the room, we were planning on hosting the 20 some odd people. The Lord provided for us tho, and it stopped raining just an hour before their arrival, and you couldn't even tell it has been raining "inside" the house! (She needs a new builder).

We hosted a community pot luck dinner and meeting Thursday night, at the historical Boathouse here. (See why I need a vacation from my vacation???) :)

Brett and Chloe are into their final week of visitation here. There were many problems with their father, and its really a good thing I stayed to "protect" them. Thank God they have no more visitation with their father....it was a very stressful time for all. (Drinking and driving with my kids). I am looking at returning to Shreveport next weekend. I miss my hubby!

I need to read and catch up on the posts...sounds like Arizona is ablaze again? NOT what I wanted to hear. Thoughts and concerns are with you Bill, Dennis, and the rest.

Thats about it from here...be well everyone!

Morning Porchers. ;)

How is everyone this morning? I slept in a little this morning and it felt nice. Once school starts up I will have to be up @ 5:30. :o I don't mind getting up that early but having to get up and ready to go at that time of the day isn't my cup of tea.

Azskyman... don't work too hard. :) And Stephanie glad to see you on the Front Porch.

Everyone have a great day.

Wow Furry, you'll certainly need to rest up when you get home! VBS is such an awesome thing. Very labor intensive for the teachers and support staff, but definitely a Labor of Love. :) That's a shame that things did not go well with the kids' dad. He sounds like a real crumb. :x

Welcome home, Poppysky! So happy to hear about Emma's new accomplishment. Babysitting will be a lot more challenging now!

I slept in today too Garrett. Just wasn't tired last night. Was posting here til 2AM along with Tom and Josh (the usual suspects). :D I'll be a zombie after lunchtime.

Have a great day, one and all!!!

Glad to hear you're back home safe & sound Steve! It must be so exciting to see her walking!

Furry - I'm glad that you're enjoying yourself. You are very busy indeed!

Garrett - thanks for the welcome! It's like I've been on an extended road trip from the porch. It's great to sit back and relax and catchup with everyone!

Back to work - it's Monday and BEAUTIFUL outside!

Tonight I'm going to try giving Derby the IV fluids. It'll be the first time I'll be doing it on my own. I'm sure that once I've done it, I'll be okay. I just don't want to hurt the poor guy or have him freak out on me. The techs and the vet said that he was good for them - and he was when I was there last Wednesday watching them do it. However, our animals (and kids) have the job of giving their Mommies and Daddies guilt trips! :o We'll see what happens!

Have a great day everyone!

I hope that everything works out all right Stephanie. I am sure it will! :)

I have my LAN line computer back up and running for the time being. We will see how long it lasts. ;)

A zombie?? Not me... I can adjust to sleeping at just about any time once I get used to it. Okay, okay Donna, maybe I am just a tiny bit tired. ;)

Have a great afternoon!

How is everyone doing? I am back and decided to write on these boards as suggested by pojo. Thanks Shannon for suggesting the boards to me and glad I am here. I will do my best to stop by every now and then and I am sure I will have some exciting weather events to tell you in the next couple of months.

I also wanted to say hi to Azskyman, since I haven't heard from you in a while and hope we are still staying in touch.

I am headed to the University of Oklahoma in August in the fall to study meteorology and looking forward to it. My dreams are coming true far beyond then I could ever imagine of becoming a meteorologist and can't wait to enter into the program in the fall. I can't believe it will be my 8th year of college and had a 184 credit hours transfer and now automatically a senior. I had 40 hours transfer into the meteorology program! I am going for the B.S. degree in meteorology.

I hope to also get into Tae Kwon Do and get my black belt as well. I am one belt away from being a black belt and need to get back into that. Hope everyone is doing well. I am moving from Kentucky to Oklahoma in the first week of August and can't wait.

Hope work is going well for you Steve(AZSKYMAN). Take it easy. I like this message board and will do my best to keep posting. Hope to see my first tornado in Oklahoma while I am studying there. Hope everyone is having a great Monday so far!

Ominous...that's how the smoke plume to the north of Tucson looks from the north side of Phoenix. Reminds you it is a BIG DEAL despite what folks might be saying.

Hi Chandra...no I haven't forgotten you. Just get busy and the weeks fly by. A busy one this week too....but glad to hear the plans for OU are moving ahead.

And Furluvcats...well, who ever said life would be easy? There are challenges with family and relationships regardless of ages and situations...but you are handling it all just grand!

Nice to see you here Colin. Over 400 members now...and you're right in the thick of it!

Speaking of the thick of it...better get back to work. My Hershey nugget is gone...so that means back to work!!!!

Good wishes for a safe Monday evening.
