Whenever I saw his name at the bottom of a forecast I was reassured. Any other forecaster there now that should inspire the same confidence?

Forgive my ignorance, but is "commander" a rank? I guess he isn't acting as a Meteorologist over there.
And his arms are HUGE.

A commander is an O-5 in the Navy, the same as a Lt. Colonel in the other branches.

I read on here that he was over there and I have much respect for the man.

Commander is a rank; the Herald screwed up by not capitalizing it. It's the Navy equivalent of a Lieutenant Colonel.

He da man.... Not bad, I hope he gets his next promotion soon. Not quite the image one thinks of for a meteorologist. He looks like he could tear the CMC handbook in half.
