what I don't understand is everyone in this thread says they love to follow systems yet hardly anyone is following the real tropical storm that is out there!
What is wrong with this picture???

I only concern myself with real tropical cyclones that have the potential to leave my area uninhabitable for weeks or months like Katrina did. I don't follow WPAC system unless they affect Guam, I'm sure many here feel the same.....MGC

Why Guam? Just curious.

MGC - I shouldn't have said everyone. I do understand being in a hurricane hit and prone area myself. There are many here though that say they just love the thrill of it yet they aren't following the real thing, that is what I should have said. Many rather than everyone. Sorry if I offended you.

BECAUSE IT DOESN'T AFFECT US IN ANY WAY.
I know it's there, and once in a while I look a satellite picture to see how its developing and its track, but it's not in my neighborhood.
I may post there once in a while, but a depression in the Atlantic gets me more excited than a Super Typhoon the WPAC. It's just like that, you can't explain it.

Low to mid level circ nearing the coast..
watch loop first
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/flt/t1/loop-rgb.html
and convection beginnig to re fire near the low to mid level circ and some banding taking shape.. (banding mentioned at the 805 TWD) but is clearly noticeable with convection now.
will it make it far enough off the coast ? is the question

Re: 99L Thread 7: Data, Analyses, Interpretations, Conclusions
This IS most definately still 99L so long as it is still the same wave that came through the windward back around Monday. It's important for those of us that live around the US Gulf Coast to understand how things in these areas do react to the steering patterns and to the shear areas and to the SSTs etc. This wave has obviously been fascinating and I for one am very glad that it never did turn into a hurricane. That fact however, does not make it any less desirable for me to follow for the aforementioned reasons. If it happens to track a bit more north then that tells us that the high in the GOM is causing more change than previously expected. These are all things worth noting for the next system that comes along. I pasted a link to the 27 storm satellite movie from 2005 and if you notice there were definately patterns that repeated many times that year. If you don't understand why we would still be gungho following this measly wave that is fine with me, but do realize that this is still of interest to some and that doesn't make us any less weather enthusiasts. I don't have to have a big storm, fast winds, big surge, etc. to find the weather a fascinating thing. Just my two cents on what I still consider a worthwhile observation of 99L... I quit watching it 24/7 but I keep coming back to find out that it's still holding on for its own dear life. Some of you get that I know.

I lauged out loud when you said you once met a scorpion while you were over Africa. We need to do this again for a later invest for old times sake. I wasn't here last time. \
And yeah, there are like 9 users here right now. Only two are saying anything.
