Re: Tropical wave south of the Cape Verde Islands
The convection has to persist for 24 hours or more to then NHC be bullish on it.

I'll take Derek's word on it since 2007 is having fun making false waves and curvature on satellite as if the basin was alive and laughing at satellite watchers.
Edit: I'd swear that thing had spin to it on visible loop. (11N-27W)

Re: Tropical wave south of the Cape Verde Islands
I didn't carry it as a tropical wave on my analysis this morning. There's definitely a wave out to the west around 34-35W with mid level turning near 12N/34W. This feature is actually between two waves in the inverted ridge axis, I guess you'd call it. It will be interesting to see if the convection persists for another 24 hours or so.

fingering effect. LOL!

I say that this wave looks pretty.
Looks, pretty organized, but im not going to say "OMG its a TS now." LOl, Just did that for a joke, as everyone says persistance is key. and just maybe we might have something by the end of the week.

...TROPICAL WAVES...
A LOW AMPLITUDE TROPICAL WAVE IS ALONG 25W/26W S OF 14N MOVING W
NEAR 15 KT. THIS WAVE IS MAINTAINING A BALL OF CONVECTION
LOCATED WITHIN 180 NM W OF THE WAVE AXIS...WHICH IS WHAT HAS
MADE THIS WAVE TRACKABLE ON MET-9 SAT HOVMOLLER DIAGRAMS. NIGHT
CHANNEL VIS IMAGES INDICATE SOME LOW-LEVEL TURNING NEAR THE EDGE
OF THAT CONVECTIVE REGION HELPING TO PLACE THE WAVE AXIS.
HOWEVER...MOST OF THE WAVE SIGNATURE AND TURNING REMAINS
EMBEDDED IN THE ITCZ.

Re: Tropical wave south of the Cape Verde Islands
Here is a more up to date view of the hairball. The convection is diminishing but you can see the turning the discussion cycloneye posted mentioned.

Re: Tropical wave south of the Cape Verde Islands
it is between two waves, basically where the surface ridge is located. This may be a mistake in the TWO
