Are you nervous/having withdrawls as season continues quiet?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think 2007 is going to be a quiet season, as in normal, like somewhere (not specifying exactly what) around the normal 10/6/2.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I hate death and destruction, but we do need something (even a nice fish) to track, right? :)

Very pleased, so far, hope it remains quiet.

Well, that's the official issue - if we lived in a perfect world, we could watch Cat 5's spin harmlessly out in the ocean, never having touched land, but, in our imperfect world, that's not how things work, so, it's the conflict of wanting to see something that looks pretty from space, but, brings misery to many, whether on land or at sea...

This is how I feel about the season so far:

and I'll admit, I'm VERY disappointed there hasn't been a decent storm to track(sorry but the 3 we've had don't count). BUT, I also understand that it's Early August, and there's plenty of season left. I defintely think we could still have a very active season, but it's gonna have to get busy within a couple of weeks or I'll be giving up also. I also remember that it only takes one storm to make a season noteworthy...

I'm pleased with the quiet so far this season. That being said, the peak of the season has not yet arrived, and I'm sure there will be all kinds of nefarious things to track in the coming weeks. I can't say I'm frustrated, but I'm getting tired of this dominant high pressure system sitting right on top of us in Ms. We need some tropical activity to take our minds off the heat.

The problem is I'm so tired of tracking tropical waves and systems that don't form and therefore I can't learn as much...and track major tropical cyclones in the Atlantic. Most basins except the Wpac are too quiet right now, and that's no good.

And the EPAC is below normal for this time of the season.

I am having withdrawals because it is so pancake flat here in Central Florida we need some tropical activity to wake up the ocean. Of course I love tracking the storms too. Please something kick up out there soon!

I'm enjoying every minute of the quiet season, looking forward to a full weekend off this weekend. But I fear that the season will really get going shortly (next week, possibly). From then on, I expect at least one if not two major hurricane impacts. Doesn't matter if there are 13 more named storms or 8, it's not looking good for Florida to the Carolinas and in the Gulf.

The quiet is good. The only thing making me nervous is that I will be gone almost the whole month of September, family stuff I can't avoid, and I really do NOT like not being here then. Since, of course, the weather is all about ME and I won't be here to control everything :D Luckily, I have some good people in charge, but it won't be the same. Plus, I have to hurricane pack everything like something will happen...a pain in the posterior.
(There is a package of Spam in my hurricane food, my insurance that the Universe would not be so cruel as to make me eat something I despise...if something does happen while I'm gone, anyone is welcome to it)

Whatever happens will happen this season if we only have 5 or 6 storms this year wouldn't surprise me. I guess if that were to occur it would be a nail in the early forecasting that comes out every April and May. Who would believe them. I still think between 10 and 15 possible for this year, but it has to happen really soon.

It is nice not having to worry about a potential Katrina coming to visit again. It would be nice not to have one hurricane in 2007......MGC

I like it quiet, so I can prepare, when there is a hurricane coming. Anyways, I am uneasy about this season still.

No withdrawals here! I like the quiet and especially hope for the quiet to continue in the GOM. However I fear the season will ramp up soon. By end of August/beginning of September this thread may be non-existent as we will be talking about a nicely formed cane.

Yes,this thread will be a non reader as soon something forms :) but in the meantime it's a good place to let out the feelings of the members about the season being so quiet.

Simply because this thread exists means the quiet is already broken and the tropics are about to get loud!

In terms of wanting storms I want a tropical storm
40-50 mph that gives me good surf Barry was PERFECT!!
But anything higher is too much damage...
all that clean up from the 2004 storms
ugghhh..

But a tropical storm is exciting...hurricanes are good
as fish...but tropical storms bring em on as long
as they are less than 60 mph.

Not sure what's going on, thought it might be more active, but remember in 2004, Charley didn't even happen by this date yet, then all heck broke loose. Soo anything can happen yet, and we already had the 'C' storm, and the peak of the season is yet to come. I'm prepared, but would sure love it if we just had fish storms to track!

Am I seeing things here?
