Funny why they leave out SE FL coast. That doesn't make sense to me.

They must be predicting systems coming from the Bahamas to begin recurving prior to the Florida East coast. Possibly affecting N. Carolina and Bermuda. The threat to Florida would be a storm recurving out of the N.W. Carib. At least thats my guess.

I don't think there will be any particular 'pattern' this season.

lol. This is the funniest landfall map prediction I have ever seen. As ronjon said, they leave out SE Florida..yet include west FL and most of east FL as well as the bahamas!? That makes no sense.

The map makes perfect sense. Those storms coming from the Atlantic recurve East of Florida and threaten the Carolinas. Those that form in the NW Caribbean move up thru the Gulf and hit the West side of florida or the central gulf coast.

>>stupidity... that map is retarded

Maybe it would have been better had you explained why it's stupid or why it is retarded. Hurricane Alley has a history and has been known to be fairly accurate from time to time in their monthly forecasts. They were decent at least 4 years this decade (this being the 6th year since the decade doesn't start until 1/1/x1).

So why are they stupid and what do you feel like your post added to this discussion?

And oh by the way, the Alley does explain what they are doing and why. I couldn't find the specific 8/10 writeup, but here's there methodology. Retarded? Stupid? Not so much as half the posts these days on Storm2k.

How is it uncalled for? It didn't single anyone out. There was just a massive thread this past week "We have to do something." Some of what we can do as posters is attempt to provide quality in discussion rather than "I agree." or some Beavis and Butthead commentary. "That's stupid. Uh huh huh."

Don't YOU think?

No I don't think that, I like Storm2k just the way it is. If you think that half the posts on this board are worthless well that's your opinion.

Opal Storm - I think Steve was right to mention it's not right to add commentary such as a particular websites product is stupid or retarded. I noticed you called Steve on it but not the one that started it - Eyewall.

That's all I will say.

Yeah it is. And it's a lot of other people's opinions too. Maybe you've noticed or maybe you haven't, but there have been at least 4 sets of quality posters from Storm2k that have split off and started their own forums. Good posters. I'm loyal to the site, so I mostly post here. And I don't expect everyone (or even 10%) who posts on this forum to be a scientist. Most of us are not. And most people have different levels of experience.

I don't even have a problem with comedy posts. But in the non active storm threads, there is some stuff that's way out there. And like I said to that one guy, perhaps it would have been better if he said why Hurricane Alley's map was stupid or at least give some reasons why. It's diffuse? Okay. That's a lot of different landfall target areas. Okay. If you look at the hotspots, they rolled the dice and went with areas that are the most likely to get hit anyway. I'll buy that as an explanation.

But come on Opal. Say you post a satelite photo and I tell you, "that's a stupid satelite." Or say someone doesn't agree with Dr. Gray's forecast and says, "CSU is retarded." See where I'm going? Maybe we have different opinions on what we want out of our experiences here. I think people ultimately have the right to post whatever they want provided they stay within the terms of service. But at the same time, I have a right to question something that I find lacking. I would demand that if I was putting pap out there, I'd be called on it, so it's not like I'm being hypocritical.

So if it's not uncalled for for a poster to call something "stupid", "ignorant", "retarded", what have you, then it's not uncalled for for me to ask for an explanation.
