This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I'd have to say this area is quite impressive, it kind of reminds me of 90L of last year which spawned TS Alberto.

Not only that, but it finally has all the ingredients set for classic NW Caribbean formation. You pretty much can't write a script better then this area has for it.

Shocking to say the possibility for 2 TD's forming in the next 48 hours seems to be about 60%.

Thats the most impressive blow up of storms I have seen all season. If that doesn't develope under these favorable conditions I don't know what will.

As of right now I would just reference this board and more importantly the National Hurricane Center. Nothing to be alrmed about until something actually develops. However, if the models are correct on some type of development in the region you might be in for a rough ride because the seas will be churning even if the storm will not directly affect you.

Of all the blobs in the carribean this one is experiencing the diurnal affect. Seeing the cloud tops getting cold and building up.

Bring your video camera so you can post on You Tube when you return ... the "cruise ship in a tropical storm" thing, ya know?! :D

Seriously ... it's too early to say. Until/if this thing develops, we can all speculate until the cows come home but nobody knows. I'm sure the cruise lines have a great deal of experience in sailing and in around August weather (i.e. tropical weather) in the Gulf. They know what they're doing and won't jeopardize the safety of the passengers. If the weather is too rough, you won't be there. So don't worry.

Heck, we could all wake up tomorrow and this whole area will have died down!

Alot of storms even ts and hurricanes at night are affected by the diurnal affect. And they often times weaken some or poof if it is just a wave in the daytime hours. But tonight this blob has perked up. No other place right now in the carribean is showing the blue cloud tops. Maybe it's nothing maybe it's something. I don't know but I do know it is interesting.

The blues are diminishing already but we shall see what unfolds over the night and tommorow.

Black ir in convection burst right where CMC put it a few days ago. But no surface feature yet. Something's brewing down there.

Do you think the convection will persist over night?

Suppose something does form, if it gets into the central gulf there is some dry air there. Also there is major dry air in the se us behind that cold front bearing down on s georgia northern fl so that could be a player in hampering development. Should it go towards texas though it has a good chance.
